Friends of Whitney M Young High School Friends of Whitney Young (FoWY) was founded in 2001 by a small group of parents. Friends is an independent 501(c)(3) charitable foundation.

Official page of Friends of Whitney Young (FoWY), a non-profit organization with the mission to support Whitney Young Magnet High School with fundraising and volunteering events. The notion was to form an independent fundraising organization for Whitney Young. Throughout the nineties many public schools formed “Friends of..” organizations as a way of raising funds through a charitable non-profit e

ntity and to ensure that funds would be used for the school and not subsumed by the Chicago Public Schools. It has an independent board of directors comprised of parents of Whitney Young students.

Today, Friends of Whitney Young, alongside an incredible group of parent volunteers, had the privilege of hosting our Faculty & Staff Appreciation Luncheon. 💙🧡

From delicious food and raffle prizes to time spent connecting and celebrating together, today was all about recognizing the educators, staff, coaches, and administrators who give so much to our students every single day.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, contributed raffle items, and helped make today so special. It truly takes a community, and Whitney Young has an amazing one. 🐬

💙🐬 Help Us Celebrate Our Amazing Staff 🐬 🧡

Friends of Whitney Young is hosting our Faculty & Staff Appreciation Luncheon on May 21 (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM in the Green House) — and we need your help to make it special!

We’re looking for volunteers to assist with setup, serving, and cleanup during lunch periods. Even one shift makes a big difference.

We’re also collecting donations to show our appreciation, including:

🍓 Drinks, fruit & veggie trays, and desserts

🎁 Gift cards and raffle items (a staff favorite!)
