Friends of Whitney M Young High School Friends of Whitney Young (FoWY) was founded in 2001 by a small group of parents. Friends is an independent 501(c)(3) charitable foundation.

Official page of Friends of Whitney Young (FoWY), a non-profit organization with the mission to support Whitney Young Magnet High School with fundraising and volunteering events. The notion was to form an independent fundraising organization for Whitney Young. Throughout the nineties many public schools formed “Friends of..” organizations as a way of raising funds through a charitable non-profit entity and to ensure that funds would be used for the school and not subsumed by the Chicago Public Schools. It has an independent board of directors comprised of parents of Whitney Young students.

Got big plans for your club or team this year? Let’s help make them happen!

The Friends of Whitney Young Fall Grant Cycle is OPEN, giving Whitney Young student organizations the opportunity to apply for funding to support their programming.

🎭 Fine arts groups
🏀 Athletic teams
📚 Academic teams
🐬 Student clubs

Whether you need resources or equipment, are planning an event, or have another idea that could make an impact on your organization, we want to hear about it!

We’re officially at 11% family participation in Dolphin Drive! 💙🧡

That means 11% of our Whitney Young families have already stepped up to support the people, programs, resources, and opportunities that make a difference for our students.

Here’s the thing: we don’t need everyone to give the same amount. We just want everyone to give something.

$5? 🙋 Counted.
$25? 🙋 Counted.
$50? 🙋 Counted.
$100? 🙋 Counted.

Every gift moves our participation number higher, and every gift adds to what Friends of Whitney Young can do for our school.
