❤️🐕🦺❤️Ordinary? No! Today We Celebrate The 12 Year Anniversary of The FIrst Steps Taken By All 4 Paralyzed Chloe !!❤️🐕🦺❤️
It was 12 years ago today that we watched Chloe walk after becoming all 4 paralyzed, quadriplegic, 8 weeks earlier.!!! Chloe proved to paralyzed IVDD dogs can walk again without surgery. Chloe changed our mission and helped us save many paralyzed dogs who would otherwise have been euthanized !
Chloe healed from very painful cervical IVDD simply with 8 weeks cage rest and lots of meds. She literally was physically unable to move. She spent 7 weeks at our vet because I failed miserably at expressing her bladder. She couldn’t walk when I brought her home but she had healed to the extent she could urinate on her own. I would place her in the grass and she pottied. October 5, 2014 she sat up and used her front legs for the first time. October 6, 2014 she raised her rears and took these wobbly steps. And, yes, she is urinating in the video. That’s a huge milestone moment for paralyzed dogs so I didn’t edit it out on purpose
We learned as our mentor Dodgerslist- Disc Disease - IVDD Education & Support explains that strict cage rest works! Chloe did not have surgery. She did not have an MRI. Chloe had plain vanilla strict cage rest, meds and the time and space to heal.
Sadly, Chloe left us last year. But her legacy lives on. She inspired us to help dozens of IVDD dogs and cats during her lifetime . Today we move forward with the goal of supporting more IVDD dogs, cats and their families.
