The Mobile Museums of Tolerance (MMOT) are traveling educational centers inspiring students to combat hate and foster positive change.

Topics include hate, antisemitism, bigotry, the Holocaust, genocide, civil rights, and more.

On October 12, we’re heading to Sauk Valley Community College for a day of interactive learning with We the People of Illinois: Tapestry.

This educator-facilitated program invites learners to explore Illinois’ diverse history through historical images, first-hand testimony, and primary sources. Together, participants will uncover stories of Indigenous and Japanese American communities while examining the broader struggle for civil and human rights.

By bringing these stories directly to communities, the MMOT helps connect the lessons of history with conversations about justice, empathy, understanding, and tolerance today.

Anne Frank’s diary has educated generations about her life in hiding during the Holocaust. It has also been challenged and banned in schools and libraries.

This Banned Books Week, we’re celebrating the enduring power of Anne Frank’s voice. 📖 Designed for students in grades 5-8, the Mobile Museum of Tolerance’s “Anne Frank: A Voice of Hope” program uses photographs and Anne’s own words to help young learners discover her story and understand the Holocaust through the experience of one young girl and her family.

Students also learn about the “upstanders” who risked their lives to help others during the Holocaust and reflect on what Anne’s story can teach us about courage, prejudice, tolerance and the responsibility to stand up against hate.

Through interactive, facilitator-led experiences like this one, our innovative classrooms on wheels bring Holocaust education directly to schools and communities across the country, creating opportunities for students to encounter history in ways that encourage conversation, reflection and empathy.

Anne’s words have reached generations of readers. Through the MMOT, we’re helping ensure a new generation has the opportunity to hear her voice and carry its lessons forward.

Every visit is an opportunity to learn, ask questions, share perspectives, and make connections. Our innovative classrooms on wheels bring interactive, facilitator-led educational experiences directly to students and communities, using the lessons of history to foster dialogue, empathy, understanding, and tolerance.

From Holocaust and civil rights education to workshops addressing the challenges young people encounter today, the MMOT helps make important learning experiences accessible to communities across the country.

And there’s much more ahead! As our fleet continues to expand, we look forward to putting more MMOTs on the road and reaching even more students, educators, and communities nationwide.

The Mobile Museum of Tolerance is on the move! 🚌 Next stop: Westminster Community Charter School in Buffalo, New York!

On October 1, we’re excited to welcome students aboard our innovative classroom on wheels for an interactive, facilitator-led educational experience designed to spark curiosity, conversation and connection. Through the lessons of history, MMOT workshops encourage students to think critically, build empathy, promote greater understanding and tolerance and recognize the power each of us has to stand up against hate.

From Buffalo to communities around the world, our MMOTs bring innovative educational opportunities directly to students, helping inspire greater empathy and understanding between all people.

Hello, Palm Beach County! 🚌

From now through October 9, we’re partnering with the Historical Society of Palm Beach County and local public schools to welcome students for a unique learning experience that connects history with meaningful conversation.

Students will explore the Historical Society before continuing their learning through an interactive, facilitator-led MMOT workshop. Through these innovative educational experiences, the MMOT brings the lessons of history directly to students, encouraging critical thinking, dialogue, greater understanding and tolerance, and empowering young people to stand up against hate.

As the MMOTs continue traveling around the world, they bring innovative educational opportunities directly to students as part of our mission to inspire empathy and understanding between all people.

Look who stopped by the MMOT! 🐾🐻

Illinois State Fire Dog Norman and Smokey Bear joined us at the Du Quoin State Fair for a visit to our Mobile Museum of Tolerance kiosks.

It was a fun moment during a day centered on something we care deeply about: bringing meaningful learning directly to communities. Through innovative, interactive, facilitator-led educational experiences, the MMOT uses the lessons of history to encourage dialogue, promote empathy and tolerance, and inspire people to stand up against hate.

From schools to state fairs and communities across the country, we’re proud to keep the MMOT on the move.

We recently welcomed Illinois State Representative Michael Crawford of the 31st District aboard the Illinois Mobile Museum of Tolerance!

Rep. Crawford joined us during an activation in his district and experienced Age of Algorithms, an interactive, facilitator-led workshop that encourages participants to think critically about algorithms, digital media and the information they encounter online.

Visits like this are an opportunity to share what makes our innovative classroom on wheels so special: bringing engaging educational experiences directly into communities and creating spaces for dialogue, critical thinking, greater understanding and tolerance.

As our MMOTs continue traveling across the country, each stop creates another opportunity to bring meaningful learning experiences directly to the communities we serve.

Over the course of our week-long visit to California State University, Monterey Bay, high school students, college students and professors stepped aboard the Mobile Museum of Tolerance for interactive, facilitator-led workshops focused on dialogue, understanding and tolerance.

As our team member Raquel put it: “You get to learn! You get to learn! EVERYONE gets to learn!” 🙌

We’re proud to bring engaging educational experiences directly to learners of all ages, creating opportunities to reflect, connect and stand up against hate.

Thank you to the CSUMB community for an incredible week. From campus to campus and community to community, our MMOTs are on the move across the country, bringing the lessons of history to new audiences and inspiring greater empathy and tolerance along the way. 🚌

Teaming up with Bernikow JCC Staten Island at its End of Summer Blast, we brought an interactive art gallery experience directly to the local community.

Aboard our innovative classroom on wheels, visitors of all ages explored meaningful lessons of inclusion, respect and understanding through art and interactive activities designed to spark conversation and connection. Across the country, our MMOTs are reaching communities with experiences that encourage empathy and tolerance.

MMOT joined families from across the Palm Beach area at Jewbilee – A Jewish Palm Beach Showcase for a day celebrating Jewish community, culture and connection.

Throughout the day, visitors stepped aboard the Mobile Museum of Tolerance to experience our facilitator-led educational programming and learn more about how MMOT brings lessons of tolerance, empathy and mutual respect directly to communities.
