Yall, this is one thing I certainly know after 50 years. When everything feels urgent, stop trying to fix everything at once.

Ask yourself:

1. What must be handled within 72 hours? And I mean Immediately.
2. What needs attention this month?
3. What can safely wait? Some things don’t need your attention right now.

Overwhelm makes everything feel urgent—but everything is not urgent.

Sometimes rebuilding begins with handling one thing at a time.

Save this reminder for the days when life feels like too much.

Hey, sister-friend!

You are an amazing woman. You may also be a mother, professional, entrepreneur, partner, caregiver, friend—or all of the above. But no matter how many roles you carry, you are still a whole woman with dreams, needs and a life of your own.

And I have some wonderful news: Urban Mommy is growing—and so is our vision.

When I founded Urban Mommy in 2013, the mission was to motivate women and mothers toward healthier, happier lives and help them reach their highest potential. That commitment has not changed. We are simply making more room for the fullness of who women are.

Motherhood may be part of our stories, but it is not the entirety of who we are.

We experience love and loss. Career changes and financial challenges. Relationships, new beginnings and seasons that require us to rediscover ourselves. Sometimes we are building. Sometimes we are healing. And sometimes, sis, we are simply trying to make it through the week with our edges and our faith intact.

Urban Mommy is becoming a space that supports the whole woman through every season—helping women stabilize, heal, rebuild and grow through life’s major transitions.

Today, my baby turns 13.

Somewhere between bedtime stories, school drop-offs, violin concerts, and all of the little moments in between… she became a teenager.

It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to watch you grow into the young lady you are becoming. You are funny, thoughtful, strong, and wonderfully yourself. There is no one else like you.

My prayer has never been that you become perfect. It’s that you always know who you are, whose you are, and how deeply you are loved.

Happy 13th Birthday, Zoie.

No matter how tall you grow or how independent you become, you’ll always be my greatest gift.

I love you more than you’ll ever know.
