Disability Pride Month may be over, but our pride shines every day at Envision Unlimited. ✨

This year’s Disability Pride Parade was a true celebration of inclusion, teamwork and joy. Our members decorated our float and showed off their favorite sports jerseys for the “Game On” theme. 🏀 The energy was contagious!

“I was waving to people,” member Charles said. “I had lots of fun!”

Moments like these remind us why we support people with disabilities and mental health challenges. A huge thank you to our dedicated staff, whose efforts made this another unforgettable day. 🧡

Go Cubs, go! Wrigley Field just made history as the first major league ballpark to become a Certified Autism Center! 🤩

Wrigley Field becomes MLB's first certified autism center

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today announced that Wrigley Field has been designated a Certified Autism Center™ by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), a first for a major league ballpark. To earn this designation, at least 80% of guest-facing staff were required to complete autism and sensory training to arm them with the knowledge, skills and best practices to welcome and assist autistic and sensory-sensitive fans. The Cubs’ Spring Training home, Sloan Park, was named a Certified Autism Center™ in 2020 with Mesa, Ariz., being the first Autism-Certified City.

“Creating the world’s best guest experience starts with understanding that fans experience the ballpark in different ways,” said Cubs Chief Operations Officer David Cromwell. “Our guest-facing staff now have additional tools to communicate with and support autistic and sensory-sensitive fans from the moment they arrive at Wrigley Field. We are proud to earn this certification and view it as an important step in our continued commitment to making Wrigley Field a friendly and inclusive environment for all.”

We had a blast celebrating cycling and disability inclusion with The Ability Experience during last week’s Journey of Hope Friendship Visit! 🚴✨

Our luau-themed afternoon featured games, dancing, a delicious lunch – prepared and served by our members – a lively water balloon fight and plenty of new friendships. Mahalo, Ability Experience, for bringing such great energy to our community! 🌺

Ready to keep the momentum going? Join us next Friday for an invigorating ride along Chicago’s Lakefront Trail. Bring your own bike, test out one of our adaptive cycles, or simply come and soak up the sun with us. We’ll have something for everyone! 🌞🚲⛱️

Yesterday, we celebrated National Disability Independence Day – the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). 🎉 Before the ADA, people with disabilities faced significant barriers in everyday life, from employment to transportation.

The ADA opened doors and continues to ensure that all people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. At Envision Unlimited, the ADA inspires our mission of choice, independence and inclusion for all. ✨

As we honor 36 years of progress, we continue fighting for a world where everyone belongs. Thank you, ADA, for paving the way. 👏👏

July is BIPOC Mental Health Month, a time to honor the resilience, voices, and unique experiences of communities of color. ✨

Through our CRSS Success (Certified Recovery Support Specialist) program, we train and guide individuals with lived experience of mental health and/or substance use recovery towards professional certification, so they can provide compassionate peer-to-peer support in community mental health centers, hospitals and treatment facilities.

Our program aims to strengthen local mental health resources for people experiencing serious mental illness, and we have already enrolled more than 50 participants. 👏

Chicago’s air quality is improving, and we’re celebrating by welcoming cyclists from fraternity Pi Kappa Phi’s The Ability Experience to our Westtown Center! 🚴✨

The group will make its Chicago “friendship visit” tomorrow as part of its annual cross-country ride that raises awareness about people with disabilities and the benefits of cycling. We’ll have a delicious lunch prepared and served by our talented Westtown members, fun games and more.
