Create a 501(c)3 non-profit county wide Community Foundation to raise and invest tax sheltered funds in support of economic and educational projects. Our Purpose

Our purpose is to provide a federal and state qualified tax exempt foundation for residents and friends of Cheboygan County to donate income and assets which are federal and state tax deductible. Funds donated to the Cheboyg

an Communities Foundation are then used to support projects which create jobs, improve local educational opportunities, increase tourism visits, expand retail and commercial offerings, and enhance the overall economic health of Cheboygan County. Lasting community partnerships are crucial to meeting local needs, like the expansion of the McLaren Northern Michigan Cheboygan Emergency Department.

The Cheboygan County Community Foundation has awarded the Foundation a $10,000 grant to support the expansion and renovation project.

“This grant will not only fund the Emergency Department expansion, it will create awareness and visibility of the project across Cheboygan County. We are honored to apply this grant to an important project that serves the community.” – Julie Jarema, Vice President, Chief Philanthropy Officer shared.

Investing in Emergency Care Close to Home

The Cheboygan County Community Foundation is proud to support the McLaren Northern Michigan Cheboygan Campus Emergency Department Expansion and Renovation Project with a $10,000 grant.

This major project will expand and modernize our local Emergency Department, including a 5,000-square-foot addition, private patient rooms, an expanded waiting area, dedicated behavioral health spaces, and an improved triage area.

As part of our contribution, the Triage Room will be named in recognition of the Cheboygan County Community Foundation!

Having quality emergency care close to home matters, especially in a rural community. We are proud to invest in a project that will serve Cheboygan County residents, families, and visitors for generations to come.

Construction is expected to begin in Summer 2026, with completion anticipated in Spring 2028.

We are grateful to be able to put local dollars to work right here in our community.
