Remembering 9/11 and the Heroes Who Inspire Our Work

Twenty five years later, we continue to honor the memory of those lost on September 11, 2001, and the bravery of the first responders who embodied the highest calling of public service. Their courage inspires the work we do every day to support the officers who serve Charlottesville with integrity and dedication.

To the officers of the Charlottesville Police Department and all who protect our community — thank you for your continued commitment.

We remember. We honor. We stand with you.

Plan to come out and join us Tuesday, August 4, from 5:00–8:00 PM at Washington Park for an evening of fun, food, and community at National Night Out! It is free! Meet your neighbors, connect with local police, firefighters, and community organizations, and learn about the resources available right in your community.

We’re proud to share CPD’s July car‑safety video—simple steps that help keep our community safer all season long.
Give it a quick watch and pass it along.

Last week, CPD Teen Police Academy gave local teens a behind-the-scenes look at policing and public service. They explored patrol, K-9, forensics and investigations, tackled the LawFit course, visited the Community Media Center, went fishing with officers, and even helped prepare and serve a community lunch.

A big thank you to CPD officers and staff for making this experience possible, and to our teens for an incredible week of learning, teamwork, and service.

Your Support Makes This Work Possible

As summer begins, more of us are spending time outside — gathering with friends, cheering at games, and enjoying all that Charlottesville has to offer.

Every day, officers are out there too, working to keep our community safe and connected.

The Charlottesville Police Foundation helps support that work by providing officers with tools, training, and resources that strengthen both officer wellbeing and community partnerships.

Our mid-year appeal is now underway, and every gift helps strengthen community safety, officer readiness, and partnership across Charlottesville. If you’re able, we’d be grateful for your support today. 👉 Donate here: cvillepolicefoundation.org/donate
