Offbeat Roadhouse will be a broadcast-only program this Friday night, featuring a 2021 performance by The Faux Paws. Tune in June 26, 8-9pm, on 91.1 FM, stream via wtju.net, or listen via the WTJU mobile app.

The Faux Paws have a problem. They’re a triangle band in a land of circles. Is it bluegrass? Not usually. Old-time? Occasionally. Is it Celtic? Can’t quite say that. Is it Folk? Americana? Jazz? Singer-songwriter? None of the above, but members of the Paws have deep ties to all of these traditions and blend their elements effortlessly to serve whatever musical idea is being presented. They’re dynamic, exciting, sincere, irreverent, infectious, and surprising.

An all new Offbeat Roadhouse returns July 10 with the Ivan Orr Trio.

Offbeat Roadhouse is supported by The Happy Cook in the Barracks Road Shopping Center. For nearly 50 years The Happy Cook has provided culinary inspiration for novice cooks, professional chefs, or those who just love to entertain.

Rum Cove continues his series designed to give you a visual representation of the many labels that he features on his long running Soulful Situation broadcast. Next in the series is Reprise Records. Check it out and tune into Soulful Situation, Mondays, 12-2pm.

Reprise Records of Los Angeles was founded by Frank Sinatra in 1960 to give himself and other artists more creative freedom. This sleeve was used between 1968 & 1973.

Renée Fleming and Béla Fleck joined The Bluegrass Situation on a phone call to delve into the musical, historical, and personal connective dimensions of "The Fiddle and the Drum", an album of Appalachian songs sung by Fleming and produced by Fleck. "The memories shared are rich and many. Some extend as far back as Fleming’s pr***en years. Others revive Fleck’s contemplations of how each song might come to life through Fleming’s vocal prowess. Every one of their recollections is imbued with immense mutual respect and awe for each other as well as the album’s many collaborators..."
