Last week, CharlotteEAST joined forces with the and to bring critical resources directly to our neighbors at Shamrock Gardens apartments on Eastway Drive.

From medical and legal assistance to youth programs, food access, and other community services, our goal is simple: make it easier for Eastside residents to connect with the support they need close to home.

We were also proud to serve pupusas from Deli La Cabaña on Eastway Drive, helping bring neighbors together over great food and conversation.

A huge thank you to all of our partners and service providers who helped us reach more than 80 neighbors this week, and for the support of the United Neighborhoods program for giving us the capacity to make collective impact happen.

We’re already looking forward to our next resource fair this summer at Woodford Estates!

At Sheslea’s on Albemarle Road, you’ll find a Mexican-Italian fusion restaurant serving fajitas, subs, chicken alfredo, and incredible speciality sweet-sauce pizzas like the pictured carne asada (grilled steak, chorizo, red onions, green peppers, jalapeños, oaxaca cheese, and more).

They’ve been in the neighborhood for some time, but if you haven’t had the chance to check them out, this is your sign to visit this weekend! Cash only.

East Side love all day, every day. Thank you to all of our partners for making May Day 2026 such an incredible event: the organizing team who spent months preparing, the small businesses who showed up to feed the community, everyone who marched, and every worker—on the East Side and beyond—whose labor keeps this city running.

We were proud to highlight why Central Avenue is the heart of our city’s worker and immigrant communities. This energy, this passion, this refusal to accept the status quo is forcing Charlotte to finally recognize that it needs to work more for its people than for its institutions.

The times are changing, and we’re excited to have a front row seat 🌞

Thanks to our friends at we hosted the Brand USA U.K. & Ireland Destination Immersion—tour operators and travel leaders who help shape how international visitors experience the U.S.—for a progressive lunch in the greater Eastland area this afternoon.

We started with small plates at , dove into lunch at , and ended with sweets at and . There are few places in the world with as much flavor packed into as few miles, and we’re always proud to showcase our community.

Huge shoutout to Chacara and Rachael with CRVA for making sure the East Side was part of the story 🤝

We had an absolute blast on our Central Avenue food and cultural tours Saturday! Thanks to our partners Tom Hanchett and Carol Sawyer of History South for organizing the events, which took us to a sampling of Spanish fusion from Rudy Montero of El Molino Deli at Sav/Way, a quinceañera fitting at Yolanda’s Creations, a feast at Lempira, and tres leches from Manolo's Bakery .

Missed out on this one? We aim to do more of these later in the year. For now, come visit if you haven’t recently, because there is no better place to be than Central Avenue 🌞
