Cranksgiving Charlotte

Cranksgiving Charlotte Use your need for speed to help feed those in need. Cranksgiving is a charity bike race, where all the proceeds are donated to charity.

It started in New York City, as an alleycat style race between the bike messengers. They would race across the city, to various “checkpoints” (i.e. grocery stores) to purchase an item from a shopping list. The finish line would be at the food bank, where all the collected groceries would be donated. Over the past 13 years the race has evolved, and begun spreading across the country. It is now held

in places such as Seattle, Tampa, St. Louis, Philadelphia, and Chicago. The one glaring omission from the list are both North and South Carolina. The nearest Cranksgiving events are in Chattanooga, TN and Huntington, WV. Once realizing this, it has been decided that we must bring this fun, affordable, charitable event to Charlotte, NC. In the tradition of the original NYC Cranksgiving, all kinds of cyclists are welcome! There is no set course, and you can ride at your own pace. Like traditional alleycay races, Cranksgiving tests your skills and speed navigating city traffic. But it also tests the sharpness of your wits as you navigate the aisles of grocery stores searching for specific food items. Once you've found them, made your way through the checkout lines, and finished the ride, all your food will be donated to a local food bank.
