The Charlotte Museum of History has selected the NCSDAR District III as the recipient of the 2026 Keystone Award. This distinction will be presented at the annual Charlotte GEM Preservation Awards, scheduled for Thursday, May 14th, from 6 pm to 9 pm.

The Keystone Award is conferred annually to individuals or organizations that have demonstrated exceptional contributions to the preservation of local history and heritage. Key aspects include:
· Annual recognition for substantial impacts in historical preservation.
· Acknowledgment of achievements in education, advocacy, and community engagement related to local history.

In honor of America’s 250th birthday and the DAR’s historic role in founding the museum, District III will proudly accept this award! Should you like to join, please purchase tickets below.

It was an honor to present the Historic Preservation Recognition Award to the Museum of the Waxhaws! We also enjoyed our volunteer time with the John Foster Chapter - we helped move an exhibit, put up frosted panels on the glass, and did some light cleaning.

Tickets are on sale now for the Charlotte Museum of History’s American Revolution, the Augmented Exhibition, opening April 14, 2026!
Developed by Histovery in partnership with the Museum of the American Revolution, this national exhibition uses cutting-edge augmented reality and interactive 3D recreations to immerse visitors in the defining moments of 1763–1789. Using Histovery’s patented HistoPad tablet, guests can explore events such as the Boston Tea Party, the Constitutional Convention, and the Battle of Yorktown, while visiting historic Boston, Philadelphia, and NY and learning about the diverse individuals who shaped America’s founding. CMH is the only venue in the Carolinas to host the exhibition, which will travel nationwide through 2031 as part of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
