From polls to ponds. 🌊
One of our CivicsEDU interns just dropped an article connecting two things you might not put together:
🗳️ Your vote
🌿 Environmental justice
Using real events in Eastern North Carolina (PFAs in the Cape Fear River + Hurricane Florence's impact), they break down how civic engagement leads to real policy change.
Spoiler: Your voice matters more than you know.

Memorial Day isn't just about BBQs and beach trips. 🇺🇸

It's about honoring the men and women who gave everything so we could have something: a voice. The best way to honor their sacrifice? Use that voice. Register to vote. Learn how your local government works. Show up. Speak up.

So yeah, "Moms" are basically the original civic leaders. Happy Mother's Day to every maternal figure who ever ran a household like a small but mighty government. Tag a mom who'd win your local election.

Just went to my FIRST Charlotte City Council meeting and I’m sharing 3 things I had NO idea about

1️⃣ You don’t need to sign up in advance to speak during Public Forum — just show up and sign in when you get there. Your voice matters, no red tape.
2️⃣ The meeting agenda is available to everyone online before the meeting — so you can plan exactly when to tune in or show up for the topics you care about.
3️⃣ Did I mention it’s FREE? No ticket, no registration, no fee. Just be a resident and show up.

Charlotte, if you’ve ever wondered how decisions get made about transit, housing, parks, or public safety — this is where it starts. And you can be part of it.

I had 60 seconds to explain what I do. No pressure.

Shout out to for letting me practice my elevator pitch at last week's Here's the truth about CivicsEDU:

We teach civics like it actually matters—because it does. No jargon. No judgment. Just real conversations about how to show up for your community.

️️ How to get involved:

“Human Energy- America’s Greatest Resource”Finding archived documents is like traveling through time. This time, I found a great article in , “We The People… How To Make The Political Machine Work For You.” This article from 1970s’ still holds true today. We The People, have a voice and it’s time to use it more than ever.

If you could go back in time and learn how to make civics work for you, would you? The good news: you can start today.

CivicsEDU is your local nonpartisan organization helping both kids and adults become Civic Champions. Click the link in bio to learn more.
