Yesterday is still a blur 💔

I never saw the day playing out the way it did. I was confident, adamant even, that Rocky was going to be okay. I never would’ve guessed the extent of his underlying issues.

His foster knew right away that something wasn’t right. She noticed his labored, wheezing breathing and lethargy and immediately alerted us. His gums quickly turned white, he collapsed, and we rushed him to Carolina Veterinary Specialist Huntersville .

Rocky was in heart failure, along with other significant health issues, and his condition deteriorated incredibly fast. His foster did everything right. There was simply no way for any of us to know how quickly things would progress.

Our sweet boy crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday. 🌈

We are heartbroken that his time with us was so short, but grateful that he knew love, comfort, and safety.

🐾 Meet Karl! 🐾

Okay… we’re just going to say it. Kane has a mini-me. 😂

Seriously - look at this face! Karl looks identical to Kane as a baby. Same coloring, same little face, and we’re pretty sure Kane is going to have some explaining to do. 👀😂

But enough about his lookalike - we’re here to get to know Karl and find out what makes this handsome boy so special.

🚨 Help Dj with his emergency vet bill! 🚨

Our sweet Dj had a scary afternoon today. We noticed his cheeks had suddenly become very swollen, and we rushed him to Carolina Veterinary Specialists - Charlotte because we weren’t sure if we were dealing with a snake bite or a bee sting.

Thankfully, he showed no signs of anaphylaxis, and the vet is treating it as likely a bee sting. He received treatment and is now being monitored at home.

His emergency visit today came to $468.23, and we’ll need to take him back in 3 days if the swelling hasn’t gone down - which could mean additional expenses for our little rescue.

Unexpected vet bills like this are tough on a small, volunteer-run rescue, so if you can help us cover Dj’s bill, we’d be incredibly grateful. Even $5 helps! 🐾❤️

Brie was adopted and gained a family who is going to shower her with all the love, attention, and happiness she deserves. 🥹💜

Ollie was adopted and gained something pretty special too - a new best friend in his doggie sister, Laena! They’ll have forever to run, play, and make memories together. 💙🐾

Two dogs. Two families. Two forever homes. 🏡

Sweet Iris is ready for her next chapter and all the love she deserves.

Rocky 💙
7 years old • 10 lbs • Senior
Rocky’s family was no longer able to care for him, so he’s starting a new life with us.

We can’t wait to give them both the second chance they deserve. 🐾
