Art by Annie Blazejack and Geddes Levinson at Families Moving Forward, a temporary shelter for unhoused families in Durham. Last fall, FMF chose 30 pieces of art for us to install there to help with their healing mission – and we paid the artists for their work! Two great causes in one.

Art by Jackie Sanders and Adam D. Cohen in the Detox Intake waiting room at the women’s campus of Healing Transitions in Raleigh, NC., an ideal environment for the healing power of original art. Said one resident: “There’s a piece of art by the shelter, a person kind of holding themselves under a tree. When I walked through those doors at Detox, I felt like that. I felt alone, I felt isolated, I felt sad – like trying to crumble into myself. So just knowing that there’s people out there who understand and feel what you’re feeling, that’s really awesome for people who are just coming in here, because it’s a super-isolating disease.”

Staff of Families Moving Forward, a temporary shelter for unhoused families in Durham, where ArtGivers recently installed 30 pieces of art, including these two by Diana Malin. “It’s easy to come in and out of our office every day and not really notice our surroundings, but this has made a difficult job a lot easier and it reminds us of the beauty of human beings and what we’re capable of creating, whether it’s through art or helping one another. It’s a deeply spiritual experience for people, and I’m not a person of faith, but for me, it’s my way of touching that.” - Joe Daly, Director of Development, Families Moving Forward

Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, and we invite you to contribute to the ArtGivers mission of getting the proven healing power of art into more lives in a way that supports artists. In our first year, over 65 pieces of art were chosen by mission-driven organizations like Healing Transitions (a residential drug rehab facility in Raleigh), Families Moving Forward (a temporary shelter for unhoused families in Durham), and Urban Ministries (a free medical clinic and food pantry in Raleigh) – and each emerging artist was paid for their work! We have many more projects planned for 2025 that need your help! Learn more – and contribute – at www.artgivers.org

In October, we celebrated the hanging of 13 pieces of art in the beautiful new addition to the women’s campus of Healing Transitions, a residential addiction recovery facility in Raleigh, NC. The art, which is theirs to own for free, was chosen by HT staff and clients, and the artists were paid for their work! Marriott Sheldon even drew portraits of program participants at the reception! Supporting healing, supporting artists!
