Calling all pediatricians! 🩺

The AAMC is updating the Medical Specialty Preference Inventory (MSPI), a resource that helps medical students explore how their interests match different specialties. They need input from practicing pediatricians across the U.S. to make sure it accurately reflects the work we do.

Pediatricians from all practice settings and areas of practice, academic and non-academic, are encouraged to participate.

This week, we're hosting the Pediatric Nephrology Subboard on the ABP campus in Chapel Hill.

These practicing pediatric nephrologists volunteer to write and review the questions for our in-training, initial certification, and continuing certification exams. Their work helps each exam reflect current practice and the skills fellows need to provide high-quality care.

Meet our 2026–2027 American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Scholar! 🎉

Georgina Pike Clegg, MD, of the Michigan Medicine, joins a record cohort of 23 early-career physicians. Her project, Understanding Resident Experience with Workplace-Based Assessment Applications, looks at how residents use and experience the tools that support their learning and feedback. She'll present her findings at ABMS Conference 2027.

What makes great physician–patient communication?

Our team set out to answer that question, and their work earned a 2026 Poster Session Recognition Award at the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) annual conference! 🏆

With input from patients, families, and pediatricians, the team identified the communication skills that matter most in a visit. They're now working toward a new learning activity that helps pediatricians connect better with patients.

Congratulations to Adam and co-authors Hope Adegoke, Andrew Dwyer, Luping Niu, Keith Mann, and Gregory Makoul! 👏

The ABP and The National Medical Association (NMA) co-hosted a volunteer reception at to say thank you to the people who make our work possible. The room was filled with leaders, advocates, and champions for children's health. ✨

We were honored to be joined by NMA President Dr. Brandi Freeman, AAP President-Elect Dr. Terri McFadden, and former AAP President Dr. Renée Jenkins, along with so many dedicated volunteers.
