Here are just some of the areas of focus for future grants suggested by attendees to our open house. If you had $100K to spend to make Appanoose County a better place, how would YOU spend it?

Let us know and we'll add it to our idea cloud as we prepare to release our public call for proposals in August.

Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by our open house and shared your congratulations online! 🫶

❓One of the things we did at our event was put this slide up in our new conference room. This is our grantmaking budget for 2026. (We'll publicly announce our call for letters of inquiry in August. Message us if you'd like to be added to our email list on behalf of your nonprofit as well.)

We asked everyone who stopped in to share their ideas on a sticky note and post it on the conference room wall. We'll share those ideas later. But before we did, we wanted to put the question out to a broader audience--how would YOU want to invest in Appanoose County? 🦸‍♂️

👇Comment below or message us.

The ultimate decision (which will take place this fall) is up to our Board. And a any suggestions will still need a formal application submitted. But our leadership team really wants to hear from the community what you think the big needs are!💡

⏰Just in time for the unveiling of our new HQ later today: out 2025 Community Benefit Report. Preserving iconic buildings with rich history was a big part of what Morgan Cline did during his life--and what his foundation has continued to do--but that's not all.

💝We've also supported the operations of community businesses Morgan stood up but that required ongoing financial support and provided impactful grants to local charities.

We've done all this while responsibly managing the funds Morgan left behind so that the Morgan E. Cline Foundation will remain active in Appanoose County for years to come.📅📅📅

👀A $300,000+ commitment to historic preservation on the Centerville square.💗

Structurally integrated with The Continental Hotel by Morgan Cline in 1996 to accommodate a fire escape required by modern building code, guest rooms actually extend over the Owl Pharmacy and down the hall on the second floor to this separate building. This building at 209 N. 13th Street was the original home of the "Daily Iowegian" newspaper and was later the home of the Montgomery Ward Catalog office for decades.📰

The Morgan E. Cline Foundation transformed the previously leased ground floor retail space as part of its ongoing commitment to our founder’s legacy. Conference room space is available to area nonprofits to use at no cost.

🎀 🏡 We are hosting a ribbon cutting today at 4 PM followed by an open house (with cookies from Julie Clayworth) until 6 pm. We look forward to showing you around.

We were so excited to be a part of this. If you have not checked out the Rathbun YMCA lately, you should!

Today marks the 12th anniversary of the passing of our founder, Morgan Cline. In his honor, we've done a little refresh of his online biography (with the help of the Appanoose County Historical & Coal Mining Museum's extensive records):

We are proud to continue honoring his legacy and investing in the betterment of Appanoose County.

We wanted to share an update of the progress on our new offices on the historic Centerville Square!

If you haven't seen this week's Appanoose Weekly, subscribers can download it at https://www.iowamedianetwork.com/appanoose-weekly to get the full scoop (and a bigger image of the construction in progress).

This small building has a long history--first as home of the Iowegian newspaper, then as multiple retail shops, and then as part of The Continental Hotel. We're excited to support extensive renovations to the property as part of our commitment to historic preservation in Appanoose County.
