Scholarships awarded:

Miah Burgher and Luke Long were chosen from among six applicants to receive $250 scholarship awards from Appanoose County Farm Bureau.

Miah, a student at Moulton-Udell High School, is the daughter of Beau & Alicia Burgher, Moulton. Miah plans to attend Indian Hills Community College for agriculture classes: animal science and horticulture. She wants to find a job in the area that will allow her to advocate for the future of agriculture and to continue to live in Appanoose County.

Luke, a student at Moravia High School, is the son of Jeremy and Jennifer Long of Centerville. He plans to attend Iowa State University at Ames with a major in agricultural engineering. He intends to get his certification in welding and work as a welder while he goes through college. Luke was also selected for consideration of a $2,500 scholarship from the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation. That determination will be made in April.

Applicants were selected based on academic standing, leadership
experience, civic involvement, and their commitment to rural Iowa and the agricultural community.
