PACT is excited to share that Centerville has been selected to receive a $10,000 Rural BOOST Grant through the Iowa Economic Development Authority's Empower Rural Iowa Initiative!

The Rural BOOST program provides communities with access to statewide experts, resources and technical assistance to help turn ideas into actionable strategies. And the best part? The impact of this investment will extend far beyond the grant period.

Through this opportunity, we'll be working with experts and local leaders to identify new ways to support entrepreneurs, plan for business transitions and put vacant spaces to productive use.

A $10,000 grant is exciting. The potential for long-term, county-wide impact is even better!

We're grateful to the State of Iowa for this investment and can't wait to get to work!

Please help us congratulate Tipsy Turtle Bar & Grill on being named PACT’s October Business of the Month!

Rathbun Lake might be known for its summer fun, and Tipsy Turtle's tiki bar is certainly part of that! But one of the things we love about this business is that they keep finding ways to give people a reason to visit long after lake season wraps up. Because who says the fun at the lake has to end when summer does?

One of the reasons we're excited to recognize Tipsy Turtle is their ability to understand what their customers want and find creative ways to deliver! They've done a fantastic job marketing their business, keeping customers engaged and finding new opportunities to grow. A perfect example? Opening a coffee shop for the summer season that turned out to be a HUGE hit! It's that willingness to try new things, listen to their customers and adapt to the market that makes small businesses like Tipsy Turtle successful.

And while the tiki bar and coffee shop might be seasonal favorites, Tipsy Turtle is open year-round! From delicious food and drinks (seriously, we recommend both!) to fun activities like their upcoming bingo nights, there's plenty of reason to make the trip to the lake even when it's a little too chilly to be outside.

Congratulations to Tipsy Turtle Bar & Grill on being named our October Business of the Month!

PACT Announces Executive Director Transition and Continued Support Through Year-End

Promoting Appanoose & Centerville Together (PACT) announces that Executive Director Delaney Kruzic has submitted her resignation from the Executive Director position earlier this month, effective October 30, 2026, as she prepares to begin her new role as Chief Executive Officer of the Rathbun Lake Area YMCA. Following October 30, Kruzic will continue working with PACT in a contracted capacity through the end of 2026 to assist the team with holiday events and year-end activities.

Kruzic joined PACT as Tourism Director in March 2021 and was named Executive Director in July 2024. During her tenure, PACT has continued to expand its reach throughout Centerville and Appanoose County, growing its membership to more than 200 businesses and organizations while strengthening programs, partnerships and community initiatives across economic development, tourism and Main Street.

“Leaving my role as Executive Director at PACT is incredibly bittersweet because I truly love this organization and the work we do,” said Kruzic. “I'm proud of how much we've accomplished over the last five and a half years, but even more proud of the people and partnerships behind that progress. I've had the opportunity to work alongside an amazing staff, board, volunteers and community partners who genuinely care about Appanoose County. I'm incredibly grateful for the trust and support I've received. While I'm excited for my next chapter and the opportunity to serve this community in a new capacity, I'm also glad I'll be able to continue supporting PACT through the holiday season and help the team finish the year strong.”

PACT Board President Tasha Fowler shared her appreciation for Kruzic's leadership.

“I am grateful for my time spent with Delaney during my involvement with PACT. She has done an amazing job in her role and is always thoughtful of the community needs. While I am sad to see her move on, I am so excited to watch her new adventure unfold. She will continue to be a phenomenal asset wherever she finds her home. We truly wish her all the best!”

Kruzic will work alongside the PACT Board of Directors and staff throughout October to ensure a smooth transition from her role as Executive Director. In her contracted role following October 30, she will provide additional support for PACT's holiday events and activities through December 12, 2026, helping ensure continuity for the team, community partners and event participants during this busy season.

Planning for the remainder of 2026 and early 2027 is already underway, allowing PACT's programs, events and services to continue without interruption.

The Board of Directors will share additional information regarding the organization's leadership transition as plans are finalized.

Investing in tourism just makes sense. And we've got the numbers to prove it!

We see the impact of tourism investment in ways that aren't always easy to put a dollar amount on. It's the community event that gives everyone something to look forward to, the volunteers who show up to make something happen and the local pride that comes from seeing our communities thrive.

But the economic impact? That one we CAN put a number on!

Did you know for every $1 Appanoose County Tourism has reinvested through grants, events and marketing, there's a $97 return in visitor spending?

According to the most recent data from Travel Iowa, visitors spent more than $39 MILLION in Appanoose County in 2024 alone!

That's money spent at our restaurants, retailers, lodging properties, gas stations and other local businesses. Dollars that support jobs, strengthen our businesses and contribute to our local economy.

Tourism isn't just about bringing people to Appanoose County. It's about investing in the places, people and experiences that make our communities worth visiting AND worth calling home.
