Voting is not liberation. An election will not save us. And casting a ballot does not absolve any candidate of the harm they have caused, or may continue to cause.
And still, elections shape the conditions we organize under.
For many of us, voting in a two-party system means making choices that are complicated, frustrating, and sometimes deeply uncomfortable. We can acknowledge that reality while still using every tool available to us, and then continuing the work long after Election Day.
Our responsibility does not end at the ballot box. We vote. We organize. We hold elected officials accountable. We protect our communities. We push for something better than the choices we were given.
And thankfully, not every vote has to feel like harm reduction.
Who are you actually EXCITED and ENERGIZED to vote for this year? ♥️
For us, one statewide candidate we’re excited about is Chris Jones Chris Jones for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture 🌱💧
And while you’re working your way down the ballot: don’t skip amendments! Amendment 1 would change Iowa’s Constitution to require a two-thirds vote of both chambers of the legislature to increase income-tax rates or create a new income tax. We’re voting NO on Amendment 1!
Drop the candidate you’re most excited to vote for in the comments! ⬇️
Election day is Tomorrow, Nov 3rd. Make a plan, vote your ballot, and then come back ready to keep organizing.
