It's Home Safety Month! Button batteries can be found in everyday items, but they pose serious risks to young children if swallowed. Here are some tips to remember to keep your kids safe around button batteries:

β€’ Keep coin lithium battery-controlled devices out of sight and reach of children.

β€’ Keep loose batteries locked away, or place a piece of duct tape over the controller to prevent small children from accessing the battery.

β€’ Share this life-saving information with caregivers, friends, family members and sitters. It only takes a minute and it could save a life.

Over the last two weeks, we were able to take part in the Safety Cities throughout Stark County. Thank you to East Canton, Canton South, Tuslaw, Jackson, Plain Local, and Louisville Local Schools for having us at your Safety Cities to go over bike helmet safety and playground safety.

Thank you to for providing the bike helmets to be able to give out to the students as well!

When your child is legally allowed to sit in a booster seat, it does not always mean they are actually ready to sit in the seat.

There is a few factors that go into being able to sit in a booster seat:
- Are at least 4-5 years old
- Have outgrown their forward-facing car seat's harness limits
- Weigh at least 40 pounds (many booster minimums start here)
- Can sit properly the entire ride without leaning, slouching, or moving the seat belt behind them and not unbuckling.

A child is usually not ready if they still:
- Fall asleep and slump over
- Put the shoulder belt behind their back
- Wiggle out of position
- Can still sit in their 5-point harness seat safely within the height/weight limits

Millions across the U.S. are facing their first round of summer heat this week! 🌑️πŸ₯΅

Your first instinct on a 90-degree day may be to get in the car, crank the AC to max and sit there, but there’s a much faster way to clear out stagnant air. ‡️

And remember: a parked car gets dangerously hot instantly. Never leave a child alone in a vehicle β€” not even for a second.
