Hope Happens Here ❤️
Sometimes, a few simple tools and a caring person can make all the difference.

Recently one of our school-based mental health providers met with a student who was overwhelmed and struggling with difficult emotions. Using items from our calming caddies, including a weighted blanket, lavender scent and sensory fidget, they sat together and practiced focused breathing.

Within a short time, the provider saw a noticeable change. The student was calmer, smiling and shared that he felt “so much better.”

We are grateful to the Stark County Health Department for the mini-grant that helped us create calming caddies for each of our school-based providers. These tools have made a meaningful difference throughout the year, helping students find calm, regulate their emotions and feel supported when they need it most.

On World Mental Health Day, let's remember that taking care of our mental health is something we all deserve.

Today, take a moment for yourself. Go for a walk. Take a deep breath. Journal. Rest. Spend time with someone you enjoy. Choose something, big or small, that helps you feel a little more grounded and recharged.

Then, reach out to someone else. A simple “How are you really doing?” can open the door to an important conversation. You don't need to have all the answers. Listening without judgment, being present and reminding someone that they aren't alone can mean more than you realize.

At CommQuest, we believe asking for help is a sign of strength. This World Mental Health Day, let's continue creating a community where it's okay to talk about mental health, reach out for support and care for one another.

Check in with yourself. Check in with someone you love. And remember, you don't have to face difficult days alone.

A heartfelt thank you to Keith and Lynnette Herrington, who organized the Sept. 26 Benefit Fish Fry at Lake Cable to support Samaritan's Table! Before Samaritan's lunch service today, Lynnette and the volunteers presented Elaine with the proceeds -- more than $24,000!

We are grateful to the Herrington's for organizing the event and to everyone who came out to support Samaritan’s Table. Your generosity helps us continue to provide meals and hope to our neighbors in need.

We're grateful to the OneOhio Recovery Foundation for investing in our Recovery Community Engagement Initiative and the people we serve.

This funding will help us expand our impact, strengthen our community and provide more Ohioans with the support and resources they need to thrive.

More opioid settlement dollars are being directed to communities across Ohio through Regional Grant Cycle 2.

We are proud to share that 4 organizations have been approved to receive $960,158 in grant funding from the OneOhio Recovery Foundation in Region 6, including:

🔵 City of Alliance Health Department
🟢 Boys and Girls Club of Massillon
🔵 Canton City Public Health
🟢 CommQuest Services

Together, these awards will strengthen youth prevention, expand harm reduction services, improve access to treatment, and help people stay connected to housing, services, and community support throughout recovery.

With approximately $45 million being made available statewide through Regional Grant Cycle 2, these awards build on our inaugural grant cycle, which awarded more than $45 million to 245 projects across the state.

We’re proud to see our CEO, Elaine Russell Reolfi, sharing her story, her leadership philosophy, and the heart behind CommQuest’s mission with ystark! Thank you for the opportunity to connect, inspire and remind us all to believe a little more in what’s possible.

Thank you to Elaine Russell Reolfi, Chief Executive Director of CommQuest Services, for speaking at this mornings ystark Sunrise Session hosted by the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.

Elaine spent part of her birthday week with us at ystark!, sharing pieces of her story, lessons she’s learned along the way, and a challenge to think a little bigger.

One word Elaine uses to describe herself is relentless. She summed it up with a phrase: “I believe that pigs can fly.”

It’s her reminder that sometimes we give up too quickly, accept the status quo, or decide something isn’t possible before we’ve really tried. Elaine chooses to keep pushing, dreaming, and asking what could be.

That mindset connects pretty well to the work she leads at CommQuest. CommQuest serves people through three main areas: mental health, addiction recovery, and social support. Their work reaches 15,000 people from 34 counties, whether someone needs counseling, help through recovery, housing and social support, or simply someone there during a difficult moment in life. Their promise is simple: Hope happens here.

Elaine brought a small example of that work with her. Everyone received a bookmark featuring artwork created by a child at CommQuest’s emergency shelter. Behind that bookmark was a much bigger reminder: when a nonprofit is there at the moment someone needs help, it can change the course of a life.

We also received a card with a challenge. Think of someone you admire, someone whose strength you appreciate, or someone who has helped you along the way. Then actually reach out and tell them. Don’t just think it.

It all tied back to Elaine’s message about recognizing what we bring, seeing the strengths in the people around us, and not being afraid to imagine something better.

Thank you, Elaine, for spending part of your birthday week with us and giving us a morning that was thoughtful, personal, and a lot of fun!

And maybe we’ll all start believing a little more that pigs can fly.

Helping people find their next step. That’s what motivates Christine Williams, office manager at CommQuest’s Alliance Campus.

Office managers play an important role in the client experience, often serving as a welcoming face and a resource when someone has questions, needs assistance or isn’t quite sure where to turn.

Christine’s approach is simple: let’s figure it out together.

“My main mission is to help people get through any problem that they may have. We will all work with you to get you to the next step.”

Whether she’s helping a client navigate services or working alongside our psychiatric providers and care teams, Christine is focused on making sure people know they don’t have to figure everything out alone.

Thank you, Christine, for the care, patience and commitment you bring to our clients and the Alliance community every day!

Baby monitors. A caring donor. And two moms who can focus on recovery with their little ones nearby.

When a generous community member heard that two babies are currently staying with their moms at our Recovery Campus in Deliverance House, they stepped forward and donated baby monitors to help us care for these families.

Behind the scenes, team members like Wendy (pictured here), recovery support specialist supervisor, put in the extra effort to make sure children up to age 5 can stay with their moms during treatment. A mom should not have to choose between seeking recovery and being there for her child.

This is what community looks like: our team going the extra mile for families and our community going the extra mile to support them.

Thank you to this thoughtful donor for seeing a need and helping us fill it. Your kindness is part of someone's recovery story.
