“Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God” (‭‭Ruth‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬).

This is the first blog post in a series that we are calling ‘The Themes of Ruth’ and covers the Hebrew concept of hesed. Hesed is a type of love displayed through loyalty, faithfulness, devotion, kindness, and mercy.

We first see this word appear in Genesis and the concept continues all the way through the acts of Jesus, which is an ultimate and archetypal form of hesed.

Here we focus on the theme found through the acts of Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz within the book of Ruth. The selfless and sacrificial hesed found throughout this story can be model for us as we attempt to love those around us.

In today's episode, we break down Season 2 | Episode 2 of The Chosen. Here, we are introduced to two more disciples. First, we have Philip who was a follower of John the Baptist. Second, we have Nathanael who was portrayed as a Jewish architect working for Rome. We experience Nathanael reach the lowest point in his life and he cries out to God underneath a fig tree.

Had a great time at the Connect & Collab yesterday at The ONE Center for Leadership. We are so thankful to be a new partner alongside so many other inspiring organizations!

What an awesome morning spent with our One Center Partners for Connect & Collab! That’s our quarterly gathering where we do a little leadership fun, share updates and news, and introduce new partners. Plenty of food and time to collab, too! We always get to work together on a community impact project and this time we packed almost 200 snack bags for . We LOVE a all of our partners!

“Our time is our life, and our attention is the doorway to our hearts.”

This month’s book recommendation comes at a cost of letting go of a hurried life. It’s a chance to slow down and breathe. It’s a call to an old way of life in a world that seems to grow faster and faster each year.

John Mark Comer talks about that simple phrase that has inevitably crossed each of our minds, “if only I had more time.” But what would we do if we had more time in a day? We would fill it with more things and tasks until we find ourselves more burnt out than we already are.

The idea here is counterintuitive to our culture but the answer to not having enough time is to slow down and make time for rest. Maybe it’s a long walk or sitting down to read this book. Maybe it’s time with family or even time alone to reflect on how God is working in your life. Whatever it is, your current self and future self will surely thank you for it!
