This week at Rotary, we welcomed John Zepp, financial advisor with Ameriprise, former owner of Zepp’s Pizza, and member of the Main Street North Canton committee.

John shared memories of growing up in a Hoover company house and reflected on how Hoover shaped North Canton’s history. He also spoke about what makes the city special today: its people.
Main Street North Canton’s vision is to make the city center a place where community comes to gather—a hub where people want to visit, spend time, and stay. The group is working with Heritage Ohio, connecting with local business and property owners, identifying gaps and opportunities downtown, and exploring ways to support existing businesses, fill vacant storefronts, and make the streets more welcoming.

We appreciate you, John, for sharing your North Canton story and the vision for its next chapter. Thanks, Zepp Man!

Roman Wells joins us today as the newest North Canton Rotary member. He aims to “protect the little guys” daily as a member of the Astoria cyber security company. In his free time, he enjoys going to the gym and creating/listening to music. He will be joining our Service committee.

Welcome Roman!

Today at Rotary, the North Canton Public Library presented checks to the North Canton Cares Pantry and the Stark County Pet Food Pantry from its **Epic Summer of Giving** program!

The funds were made possible by Daystar Automotive Group and the Friends of the Library following another successful Summer Reading Program. Since 2020, the Epic Summer of Giving has encouraged children and adults to read while giving back to organizations that serve our community.

The Friends of the Library raises funds through its used book sales—and already has more than 10,000 books ready for the next one!

The North Canton Cares Pantry supports local residents and veterans experiencing food insecurity. So far this year, the pantry has served 6,297 individuals!

The Stark County Pet Food Pantry provides temporary assistance to Stark County pet owners who need help feeding their pets.

The owners of Daystar Automotive Group are North Canton residents who are committed to being a light in the communities they serve. Supporting programs like this is one of the many ways they bring that mission to life.

Thank you to everyone involved for encouraging literacy while making a meaningful difference in our community!

Did you know that our North Canton America250 Community Picnic is just one of many being celebrated throughout the state of Ohio? Numerous gatherings, both large and small, in all 88 counties across the state are planned while we join together to eat, drink, and build community with our neighbors. Our picnic will be Saturday, July 4 at 12pm on the Hoover Lawn. Sponsored by the North Canton Rotary Club , with support from ArtsinStark and Visit Canton, we will enjoy the sounds of a brass quintet from the Canton Symphony Orchestra. The NC Rotary will provide free hot dogs and chips, or bring your own food to enjoy.

Following the picnic, there will be North Canton America250 Lady Liberty: The Story Behind America's Icon TEASER with the longer program to follow September 8. Local historian MJ Albacete will present a teaser in City Hall at 1pm which is free and open to the public.

For the past 15 years, the North Canton Rotary Fly the Flag Program has helped beautify our community while giving residents a meaningful way to proudly display their patriotism.

This program would not be possible without our incredible community partners — the North Canton Hoover Speech & Debate Team and Boy Scout Troop 1035 — who work together to place flags in the yards of our patrons throughout the year.

From Memorial Day to Flag Day, the Fourth of July, Patriot Day on September 11th, and Veterans Day, these flags serve as a powerful reminder of the freedoms we share and the heroes who made them possible.

Thank you to everyone who supports this tradition and helps keep patriotism flying high in North Canton. ❤️🤍💙
