This is a picture of a reproduction of a Civil War era Gatling Gun. I saw it a living history event at Hale Farms Museum outside of Cleveland in 2012 or so. It is does not use cartridges but rather is loaded sort of like a muzzleloading revolver. It is essentially a very large revolver. It is smaller than the later version of the Gatling. The guy in green sitting behind it is one of a couple of guys who actually built it from original plans. They fire it at events, but not the one I was at. Sadly, Company G does not have one of these.

On Saturday, June 13th Sgt. William Pittenger Camp No. 21 SUVCW and the Sons of Veterans Reserve (Co. G, 5th California Infantry) held a Medal of Honor Gala in honor of the Camp's namesake. Sgt. Pittenger's descendants were on hand and made a permanent loan of a Medal of Honor replica to the Fallbrook Historical Society. It was truly a gala event!
