I know it feels so far away, but its time to start planning for the holidays. Wreath and poinsettias orders are due on 10/26/26. Products will be delivered around Thanksgiving so that they can be enjoyed for all of December. This is a great way to support your scout so that they can earn their way to camp.

Another Troop Court of Honor is in the books! Great job by our Master of Ceremony- Felix! The scouts were busy and earned a lot of advancements during the past 6 months! Our troop grew and welcomed new scouts. There were many opportunities for adventures, like camping and hiking. They learned new skills. They developed leadership abilities. They conquered obstacles and did hard things. They participated in service to others. Along the way, the scouts earned some ranks, merit badges and awards! It's always fun to celebrate their journey along the scouting trail!

There was also a changing of the guard this evening, and new youth leaders stepped forward to lead the troop into their next adventures! I can't wait to see how all the scouts learn and grow in this new season of scouting!

When a 92 year old Canby resident reaches out asking for a hand, Troop 258 steps up. We ended up with great weather and a group of hard workers. Kareen and her family were so appreciative, it made it absolutely worth it! Plus they treated us to Fultanos pizza and Thriftway donuts!

Tonight, we officially welcomed two new scouts, David & Sawyer! David joins us from a troop in New Jersey & Sawyer just crossed over from Cub Scouts. Sawyer got to experience "crossing the bridge" from Cub Scouts into a Scouting America troop!

Later in the meeting, the troop did their semi-annual elections and selected new scout leadership that will hold positions of responsibility for the next cycle. We had almost every scout in attendance this evening to vote! The new scout leadership group gets sworn in next week at the Court of Honor (10/12 at 7pm, at the A-Frame!)

Troop 258 lucked out with perfect weather at Elk Lake last weekend. The guys put their cooking skills to the test by doing "self cook" using personal backpacking style stoves. They also went on an epic 7 mile hike with just under 2,000' of elevation change. I'm proud to report that the adults even survived the hike.
