The Mark Prairie Historical Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit, organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the beautifully restored Mark Prairie Schoolhouse, a Historic Venue for Weddings, Meetings, and Gatherings. Step back in time at the Mark Prairie Schoolhouse, a restored 1879 pioneer landmark cared for by the Mark Prairie Historical Society. With its vintage charm and timeless setting,

the Schoolhouse is now a unique historic venue for weddings, meetings, and gatherings, where Oregon history and community come together.

A wonderful evening of local history, preservation, and community at the Historic Mark Prairie Schoolhouse!

This past Monday, we were honored to host the monthly meeting of the Clackamas County Heritage Council, followed by tours of the beautifully restored 1879 schoolhouse and nearby Gribble Cemetery. Thank you to everyone who attended and to all those who continue working to preserve and share the rich history of Clackamas County.

We love seeing historic places bring people together. ❤️🏫

🏆✨We are incredibly honored to share that the Mark Prairie Historical Society has been selected to receive a 2026 Oregon Heritage Excellence Award for the Mark Prairie Schoolhouse Disaster Recovery & Restoration Project. 🎉

This recognition celebrates the restoration of the Historic Mark Prairie Schoolhouse following the devastating February 2021 ice storm, and the dedication of the volunteers who worked tirelessly to bring it back to life.

Over four years, with the support of our community, grants, and donors, this beloved landmark was thoughtfully restored and reopened in May 2025. Today, it continues to serve as a gathering place for events, celebrations, and community activities 💛

The Oregon Heritage Excellence Awards are presented biennially, recognizing outstanding preservation efforts across the state. We are so proud to be recognized alongside other outstanding preservation efforts across Oregon and grateful to everyone who made this possible.

📍 Recognized locally at the Canby City Council on May 6

Easter is coming. Do you find that your family is growing too big for your table? Do you need more space for your Easter Egg hunt? Consider renting the Mark Prairie Schoolhouse to bring the family together. It is a one-room 1879 schoolhouse with a restored interior and modern amenities. It is part of a pioneer homestead that sits on 2 acres of oak trees. We’re happy to show you around at your convenience!
