Introducing dogs to barn chores takes time, patience, and consistency. We want our dogs to be safe around livestock, but we also want them to learn how to be respectful members of the farm family. It’s a careful balance between protecting the animals and teaching good canine manners.

Every dog starts somewhere. Through supervision, training, and positive experiences, they learn that chasing, barking at, or bothering livestock isn’t acceptable. The goal isn’t just obedience—it’s helping them become trustworthy farm companions who can confidently share space with horses, goats, cows, and other animals.

Watching a rescue dog learn those boundaries and grow into a respectful farm citizen is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. ā¤ļøšŸ¾šŸšŸ“

We said we’d only take in two… but the dogs just keep coming.

This week alone, we’ve taken in 8 dogs. (2 aren’t shown but will post soon) The reality is heartbreaking—dogs are being dumped, abandoned, and left with nowhere to go. Rescue groups everywhere are feeling the strain.

Before these dogs can find loving homes, they need veterinary care, vaccines, food, and most importantly, spay/neuter surgeries. Every dog we save comes with expenses, and those costs add up quickly.

We’re doing everything we can, but we can’t do it alone.

ā¤ļø If you’d like to help, please consider making a donation. Every dollar goes directly toward the care of these dogs and helps us say ā€œyesā€ to the next one in need.

Thank you for supporting rescue and giving these dogs a chance at the life they deserve.

Bittersweet news from the sanctuary ā¤ļø

Yesterday, Red headed off to an amazing home for a trial adoption. Leaving his little kitten friend behind was definitely emotional, but Red needed a home without big dogs. The larger dogs were causing him stress, and at the end of the day, our job is to do what’s best for the animals—even when it’s hard on our hearts.

The good news? Red is settling into a wonderful home where he can relax and thrive.

As for the kitten, she isn’t alone for long. Gus has proudly stepped in as her temporary caretaker, and he’s taking his new job very seriously. 🄹🐾 He’s been gentle, attentive, and doing an excellent job keeping her company while she adjusts.

Sometimes rescue means making the tough choices so everyone gets exactly what they need. We’re going to miss seeing Red every day, but knowing he’s happy makes it all worth it. ā¤ļøšŸ¶šŸ±

Gus is the perfect example of why we no longer hold dogs without a completed adoption and pickup.

A family came and visited and said they were 100% going to adopt Gus and would come back Friday. Friday came, then Saturday. Saturday came and then changed to June 6th when their kid was out of school. So I emailed to double check on June 6th, surprise surprise something came up. So I’m happy he didn’t go to them and I will never adopt a dog out to someone who does this, it’s irresponsible to the dog. We trusted their commitment and turned away other interested adopters. Unfortunately, we believe they never planned on following through and Gus missed out on what could have been a wonderful home.

When rescue space is limited and so many dogs are waiting for families, holding dogs indefinitely isn’t fair to them. If you’re interested in adopting, we encourage you to complete the process and make arrangements promptly.

Our goal is always to find the best home as quickly as possible for each dog, and sometimes that means giving priority to adopters who are ready and able to move forward right away.

Every extra day a dog waits is another day they aren’t in their forever home and also holding a space for another dog to be saved. Thanks for understanding. Gus is a great dog; share far and wide so he can find his personā¤ļøšŸ¾
