A not for profit organization dedicated to making a difference and improving the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Incorporated in 1956, we have been serving the needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities, and their families, for over 60 years.

Navigating the system and finding the right accommodations shouldn’t feel like a game of chance. To help you prepare, Disability Rights New Jersey created this Voting card! From verifying your polling location to finding a voting buddy, there are so many ways to get election-ready.

Digital skills can do more than help someone use technology. They can give people with disabilities more ways to learn, connect, and stay safe online.

Dawn’s experience is a great example. After taking part in digital literacy training at The Arc of Greater Brockton. Dawn learned skills for navigating the online world and decided she wanted to take what she learned even further.

Her idea? Create an anti-bullying class to help other people with disabilities learn about cyberbullying and what they can do when it happens.

Now Dawn is working with the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services to create an anti-bullying class that uses strategies and role-playing to help people understand cyberbullying and make safer choices online.

Through our partnership with AT&T, we’re expanding access to free digital skills training so more people with disabilities can build confidence with technology and use those skills in ways that matter to them.

For decades, many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) have faced significant barriers to employment and financial independence. A job can help them build skills, confidence, and relationships. And competitive integrated employment means they can earn a fair wage, like their non-disabled peers. At The Arc, we know how important these opportunities are for people with IDD. That's why we're excited to announce a new one-year initiative, Employment Pathways for Individuals With Disabilities, thanks to generous funding from The Coca-Cola Company.

Participating chapters of The Arc will work with local businesses to identify and create employment opportunities that will fit the needs of the business and be a good fit for job seekers with IDD.

Invisible disabilities are conditions that aren't immediately noticeable but can still significantly impact daily life. They include things like chronic pain, mental health conditions, learning differences, and more.

About 10% of Americans live with an invisible disability, meaning it's more common to meet someone with an unseen disability than you might think!

For those living with invisible disabilities, it can be hard to get the accommodation and support they need. Because their challenges aren’t always visible, their disabilities are sometimes misunderstood or not taken seriously. But just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean they aren’t there.

This week is Invisible Disabilities Week. Take a minute to share this post to remind others that not all disabilities are visible and that inclusion matters.
