What happens when a play written in 1972 still speaks directly to the world we’re living in today? 🎭

This week’s Jersey Arts TV takes viewers inside Crossroads Theatre Company’s production of “Sizwe Banzi is Dead,” a story rooted in apartheid-era South Africa that continues to spark conversations about identity, survival, migration, and humanity.

From deeply personal reflections by the cast to the audience becoming part of the performance itself, this feature explores why storytelling still matters and how theater can challenge us to see each other differently.

Freelance artists and creative workers play an essential role in bringing arts experiences to communities across New Jersey.

ArtPride New Jersey recently testified before the Senate Labor Committee about proposed labor regulations that could affect independent artists, musicians, teaching artists, designers, technicians, and many other freelance creative professionals throughout the state.

Many nonprofit arts organizations rely on project-based creative workers to provide performances, classes, exhibitions, festivals, and community programs. ArtPride shared concerns that the proposed regulations could create challenges for both arts organizations and independent creatives working across New Jersey.

Advocacy helps ensure that the voices of artists, arts organizations, and arts audiences are included in important policy conversations that shape the future of the arts in our state.

Discover Jersey Arts is proud to be a program of ArtPride New Jersey, supporting and advocating for a strong and vibrant arts community statewide.

The arts help communities thrive and South Jersey arts leaders recently had the chance to share that message directly with New Jersey’s Lt. Governor in Cherry Hill.

At a breakfast event with local business leaders, representatives from ArtPride New Jersey, Perkins Center for the Arts, and Moorestown Theatre Company spoke about how the arts strengthen our communities, support local jobs, and help young people build skills for the future.

Moments like this remind us that the arts are more than entertainment, they are essential to New Jersey’s identity, economy, and quality of life.

Discover Jersey Arts is proud to be a program of ArtPride New Jersey, advocating every day to ensure the arts remain vibrant and accessible for everyone across the Garden State.
