🎡 Because no Jersey summer is complete without a Wildwood memory.

As the season shifts, we’re holding on to the boardwalk bliss, neon nights, and retro pride that define our arts-rich shore towns. September brings the nostalgia — and this song brings it home.

What keeps you creating after you've already proven you can? 🎸

For Grammy Award-winning guitarist Isaiah Sharkey, fulfillment isn't rooted in awards or famous collaborators. He finds fulfillment in “being creative, in finding new things, and in affecting people in a positive way.”

It's a perspective shaped by a lifetime with the guitar, beginning with inspiration from his musical family and expanding through collaborations across gospel, R&B, jazz, funk, rock, and beyond.

Ahead of Sharkey's performance at South Orange Performing Arts Center, Gina Marie Rodriguez explores the curiosity and relationships behind the musician.

Can seeing someone onstage change what you imagine for yourself? 🩰

For Martha Graham Dance Company dancer Anne Souder, an early encounter with the Paul Taylor Dance Company sparked a thought: “That's what I want to do.”

Ingrid Silva's path began differently, through a community dance project in Rio de Janeiro. She eventually became a principal dancer with Dance Theatre of Harlem.

Different beginnings. Different journeys. A shared reminder of what can happen when people have access to the arts.

The Asbury Park Dance Festival carries that idea forward by supporting Arts Ed NJ and arts education opportunities across New Jersey.
Who first helped you see a possibility you hadn't imagined for yourself?

Have you ever loved a place that made you question whether you truly belonged there? 🇵🇷

That tension sits at the heart of Carmen Rivera's "La Gringa", and it resonates personally with Jersey Arts host Gina Marie Rodriguez.

As a member of the Puerto Rican diaspora, Rodriguez knows the feeling of being caught somewhere between here and there. It's why this conversation with the director and cast of Ritz Theatre Company's production feels particularly close to home.
“Culture should not be gatekept.”

So we're curious:
What makes you feel connected to your culture? Family? Language? Food? Music? A place? Something else entirely?

When we say everyone has “inalienable rights,” who has historically been included in that everyone? 🤔

At the 1719 William Trent House Museum, that question carries particular weight.

Eleven enslaved people were held by William Trent at the time of his death. Today, contemporary artists and poets are bringing questions about identity, dignity, safety, education, health, love, and belonging into the same historic space.

In "Freedoms Reframed: Art on the Edges of the Constitution", history isn't allowed to remain comfortably in the past.

Curator Rhinold Ponder describes America as a nation shaped by “migration, cultural exchange, resilience,” and the exhibition asks audiences to consider whose experiences have shaped our understanding of freedom.

What does an “inalienable right” mean to you today?
