Freelance artists and creative workers play an essential role in bringing arts experiences to communities across New Jersey.
ArtPride New Jersey recently testified before the Senate Labor Committee about proposed labor regulations that could affect independent artists, musicians, teaching artists, designers, technicians, and many other freelance creative professionals throughout the state.
Many nonprofit arts organizations rely on project-based creative workers to provide performances, classes, exhibitions, festivals, and community programs. ArtPride shared concerns that the proposed regulations could create challenges for both arts organizations and independent creatives working across New Jersey.
Advocacy helps ensure that the voices of artists, arts organizations, and arts audiences are included in important policy conversations that shape the future of the arts in our state.
Discover Jersey Arts is proud to be a program of ArtPride New Jersey, supporting and advocating for a strong and vibrant arts community statewide.
