The Annie Awards Juried Awards honor unparalleled and exceptional contributions to animation. Categories include our highest honor, the Winsor McCay Award, in recognition of lifetime achievements; the June Foray Award for philanthropic commitment; the Ub Iwerks Award for technical advancement; and the Special Achievement Award for unique accomplishments not recognized within the existing award category structure.

The Juried Award nomination submission deadline is Monday, October 12th, 2026

The 54th Annie Awards Call for Entries continues!

List of Deadlines:
Standard Deadline: October 12th, 2026
Late Deadline: November 30th, 2026

Honoring excellence in the field of animation, the 54th Annie Awards™ covers 38 categories, including Animated Feature, Animated Feature-Independent, TV/Media Production (including the new international anime category), Sponsored Production, Short Subject, and Student Films, along with Achievement and Honorary awards.

Production and Achievement submissions will be from animated productions that were released in the United States between January 1 and December 31, 2026.

The Memorial Gala will be hosted by Leah Allers and Sir Tim Rice, with performances by Jodi Benson, Darian Sanders from the musical The Lion King, and many others, in honor and memory of Roger Allers. Join us at one of our panels, Cartoon Comedy: Five Animators Discuss Their Animated Inspirations, on Saturday, October 24th, 2026, at !

Humor in animated films has a long diverse history – and we’ve come far from the days of Gertie the Dinosaur getting a laugh by throwing an elephant into a lake or Felix The Cat using his tail for an umbrella. Max Fleischer, Tex Avery, Chuck Jones and Jay Ward defined animated humor in the past and have influenced much work of the present. This panel will invite five current animators to discuss humor in animated films, they will also show clips from their favorite classic cartoons – and explain how that has influenced their work.

Panelists include Chris Prynoski (Titmouse), David Silverman (The Simpsons), Eric Bauza (Looney Tunes), Lauren MacMullan (Get a Horse!), and Yvette Kaplan (Beavis and Butt-head). Animation Historian Jerry Beck (The 50 Greatest Cartoons) will moderate.

Also, ASIFA-Hollywood will make an announcement during this panel about their latest Award for Humor in Animation.

Join Us to Celebrate 100 Years of Lotte Reiniger's The Adventures of Prince Achmed on October 1st, 2026, at the UCLA James Bridges Theater!

Join ASIFA-Hollywood, the UCLA Animation Workshop, and WIA in celebrating 100 years of Lotte Reiniger’s pioneering animated feature film, The Adventures of Prince Achmed. Rediscover the world’s oldest surviving animated feature and celebrate the visionary filmmaker who helped shape the art of animation. A special screening of The Adventures of Prince Achmed will be provided, followed by a panel with Whitney Grace, Tracey Miller-Zarneke, Charles Solomon, and Amy Winfrey.
