John Fithian, Founder of The Fithian Group (TFG), joined WIE members for the April Speaker Series to discuss his career journey in the industry.

He dove into the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion at TFG & throughout film, the transition from film to digital, and how policymakers in LA & CA need to remain competitive to remain the center of filmmaking.
Thanks again, John!

β˜€οΈ June Member Spotlight β˜€οΈ

🌟 WIE're excited to highlight Lisa Ogdie this May! Lis is the Head of Cinema Programming - North America at Soho House and Short Film Programmer at the Sundance Film Festival.

πŸ’ͺ People turn to Lisa because:
She's a very decisive person and learned to trust her instincts over the years, so others will often come to her for general advice or to get her take on a situation.

πŸŽ₯ Take a look at Lisa's journey to exhibition:
She's worked in film festivals and arts non-proficts for many years, but shifted to exhibition in 2021. The opportunity came through the connections and network she built over the years.

⚑ Check out Lisas career highlights:
Working with both Sundance and Soho House, Lisa's had the opportunity to support some amazing filmmakers over the years. She's feels very lucky to not only meet and interact with some of her heroes, but also discover new talent who will be leading the industry one day.

🎞️ Lisa's favorite part about the movegoing experience:
She loves the shared communal experience. In these fractured times, she feels it's one of the last spaces people can convene together and emerge transformed. There's nothing better than a full theater entranced with films making history! She couldn't be more excited for our industry! Movies are so back!

😲 Fun fact:
Prior to working in film, Lisa worked as a project manager in cellular technology.

πŸ’› Lisa loves WIE:
Lisa would encourage everyone to get more involved and join a committee! She joined the Mentorship Committee last year and met an amazing team!

Check out Andrew Sunshine, President of Film Expo Group discuss the connection between studios, exhibitors, and vendors to provide an elevated experience for consumers and maintain a healthy industry.

β€œIt starts with the movie. The consumer wants to go to see that movie, but what theater are they going to go to? Why are they going some place? Is it for F&B? Is it for PLF? Is it for…the seats?”
