Congratulations to Menelek Carrion, a current student from Eagle Academy for Young Men BK for completing his business pilot, “The Art in History”!

Manalek’s vision was to teach art through a historical lens, engaging more Black youth in the arts, celebrating their culture and history, and inspiring them to explore artistic pathways to college.

Manalek was a participant of the inaugural cohort of Freedom School in partnership with NAACP NYS Conference and Center for Law and Social Justice at Medgar Evers College, and he’s also one of the Shark Tank winners!

We’re so proud of what he created and can’t wait to see where his creativity takes him next. Check out his highlights!

Congratulations to Zoe, a current student at Brooklyn Community Arts & Media High School, on successfully completing her business pilot, Hope on a plate🍽️🧆.!

Zoe saw a need in her community and turned her passion for helping others into action. Her brilliant idea brought peers together to prepare meals and deliver them to local shelters, creating an opportunity for young people to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.

The program was a huge success, and we salute Zoe for not only being part of the solution, but for inspiring her peers to join her in making a difference!

Huge shoutout to our incredible IMceos, Nicholas and Joangel, for successfully completing their summer pilot, Escape Theory!

Passionate about the power of music, Nicholas and Joangel created a space where their peers could come together, express themselves freely, and use music as a tool for healing, connection, and self-expression.

What makes this journey even more special is that both Nicholas and Joangel were once participants in our programs at Brooklyn High School for Leadership and Community Service , and now they’re stepping into leadership by bringing Escape Theory back as an after-school club this upcoming school year!

We couldn’t be prouder of the young entrepreneurs they’ve become and the impact they’re already making in their community. Keep shining, CEOs! 👏🏾

Congratulations to Juland and Nichalus on successfully completing their summer program pilot, The Stencil Workshop! 🎉

Juland and Nichalus are passionate about tattoo art and wanted to teach their peers the importance of choosing meaningful images and quotes for their tattoos, while also introducing them to the creative process of designing and practicing tattoo art using a tattoo gun and tattoo skins.

His passion for tattooing was inspired by his father, a professional tattoo artist, and now Juland is only a few weeks away from becoming certified himself! You can follow their work at TSW

Check out his highlight and stay tuned for more stories from our incredible youth entrepreneurs! 🙌🏾

Our summers are 100% youth-led!

All 16 of our Shark Tank winners will launch their programs through our Summer Incubator, where they facilitate sessions to 20 SYEP students in bringing their ideas to life. Throughout the summer, they receive weekly feedback from their peers, refine their concepts, and build the foundation for their own businesses.

The most inspiring part? Every business is designed to address critical issues in our community. Our young entrepreneurs learn that true success is rooted in collective advancement, not just individual achievement.

Their pilot programs kick off Monday on the Boys & Girls High School campus, and we can’t wait to see the impact they make! 💙

All sessions will take place at Mandela School

Follow their IG pages to track their progress!
