A major win for the q***r community in Kenya! The Kenyan High Court just ruled that the state cannot automatically refuse requests to change gender markers on official IDs, affirming that doing so violates dignity, privacy, and equality. The Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) welcomes the decision, noting it compels public institutions to act fairly and in line with the Bill of Rights. For trans refugees and asylum seekers, this means fewer administrative barriers to accessing safety, health care, and services because your identity is real, and it deserves recognition. 🏳️‍⚧️

All Roads Lead To The South, a national day of action, converged in downtown Montgomery, AL, the birthplace of the modern Civil Rights Movement.

Rev. Dr. Jamal Bryant, Senior Pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Stonecrest, Georgia, and a key organizer of the rally, told GLAAD that returning to where the movement began allows Black Americans to pay homage and to focus on present and future challenges.

Darian Aaron, GLAAD's Senior Director of Local News: US South spoke with Rev. Dr. Jamal Bryant before All Roads Lead To The South and he said: “The LGBTQ community has never been an asterisk. They have always been a part of the heartbeat, albeit unrecognized. Dr. King spoke at The March on Washington—Bayard Rustin organized it. I hope that while we’re building this sense of community, that we understand that all of us are going to have to walk together in order to dismantle this system of oppression that confronts us all.”
