Something beautiful is happening in the collective Black body - an awakening that feels like a gentle breeze. 🌬️ Thank you to everyone who is registered for tomorrow’s 6/21 Reparations Café session in Brooklyn!

For the morning session we have 1 white person registered for our in-person Reparations Café session. 1 person who is showing up even though this is NOT the Cookout, potato salad, performance, or a book club where we intellectually talk about all we know but do not embody. This is liberation. Doing the deep work with hearts open all while being in sanctuary spaces.

All who are ready are invited.

This Sunday we gather diasporically to explore the ways we learned to survive globally. In this Juneteenth month of our liberated ancestors, we witness the wounds, wisdom, resourcefulness, and celebration embedded in our varied survival strategies.

In Thomas Hübl’s teachings, we learn that healing happens in relationship. You can only go as deep as the collective field can hold. After almost 4 years of this work together, this group has become that container for each other.

Without community there is no liberation. But community must not mean a shedding of our differences, nor the pathetic pretense that these differences do not exist.” —Audre Lorde

We need spaces that foster this kind of community - where differences are honored, not erased.

“Without inner change there can be no outer change. Without collective change, no change matters.” —Rev. angel Kyodo williams

These words guide our work at Black Exhale as we create sanctuary spaces for collective healing in the Black diaspora. They remind us that transformation must happen both within and between us to matter.

“In the stillness of quiet, if we listen, we can hear the whisper of the heart giving strength to weakness, courage to fear, hope to despair.” - Howard Thurman

Join us this Thursday as we continue exploring Solitude as Resource in our March Reparations Café sessions. In times when our belonging is constantly challenged, creating intentional space with ourselves becomes a radical act of preservation.

Our previous gathering revealed how elders often kept the TV on as background company, sacrificing connection to their inner voice. What might we reclaim if we practiced just 5 minutes of reverential and restorative solitude daily?

If you’re on our mailing list, you may have heard about Black Exhale’s newest offering. If not, we’re excited to introduce:

Reparations Café: A sacred gathering space creating sanctuary for collective Black healing through ancestral wisdom and diasporic connection.

In these times of constant connectivity and political turbulence, our nervous systems rarely have space to reset. The Reparations Café offers an intentional container where we can witness each other’s experiences while exploring practices that restore and resource us.

Our March sessions explore “Solitude as Resource”–examining how intentional time with ourselves deepens our capacity for genuine connection with others.

Join us for one or both sessions:
✨ March 13th & 27th
✨ 6:30-8:00pm ET
✨ Online via Zoom
✨ RSVP: cafe.blackexhale.org

This is a space created specifically for Black peoples in the diaspora.
