Tomorrow, Sat. 9/19, a herd of buffalo puppets will march through Brooklyn Heights! Return of the Buffalo: Tatanka Owe Akupi is a public art performance featuring dance, poetry, music, tribal ceremonies and more. Join the herd as it begins at Abolitionist Place, makes its way along Fulton before parading down Montague, the Promenade, and concludes at BK Bridge Park. Event begins at 2pm and runs until 4:30pm.

For decades, Downtown Brooklyn was supposed to become New York City's next great office district. The vision was ambitious: skyscrapers filled with corporate tenants, thousands of office workers, and a skyline that could rival Midtown.

But that's not exactly what happened.

Instead, Downtown Brooklyn grew into something different—and arguably something better. New apartment buildings brought new residents. Restaurants and local shops followed. Cultural institutions flourished. Universities expanded. Today, it's one of the city's busiest and most diverse neighborhoods, where people don't just work—they live, study, create, and spend time.

A new report from the Regional Plan Association suggests it's time to stop measuring Downtown Brooklyn against an outdated vision and start investing in what it's already doing well.
