It’s that time again to sign up to interview for our free Soft Skills Training - Carpentry program at bobcatbrooklyn.org.

Do you know the difference between hard skills and soft skills in the workplace? Hard skills are the technical and physical skills required to do the job, while soft skills like resume building, communication skills, time-management, problem-solving, and leadership skills also require emotional intelligence and are actually more highly-valued by employers than many people realize.

Following up on the success of our last soft skills training program in June, starting Wednesday, 9/4, to Tuesday, 9/17, we’ll be interviewing candidates for our next soft skills training sessions. Selected interview candidates will be invited to participate in sessions happening 9/18 - 9/20.

Successful graduates of the soft skills training program will receive assistance in applying for the New York City District Council of Carpenters BuildingWorks carpentry pre-apprentice program.

BuildingWorks (BW) dates are as follows:

Application deadline: 9/23 at noon

Interviews and orientation for pre-apprenticeship program will happen virtually 9/24 - 9/29

BuildingWorks pre-apprenticeship program 9/30 - 10/25

Happy Labor Day!

Last Thursday, Bobcat Borough of Brooklyn Center for Arts & Technology Chair, Aaron Dean, and his wife, Deborah, attended a movie night in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn that was co-hosted by the Brownsville Recreation Center and the Brownsville Economic Development Corporation. At the event, they networked and handed out flyers and t-shirts advertising BoBCAT Brooklyn’s Soft Skills Training programs. The t-shirts were a hit. Kudos to Golf Committee member Jamelle Straker, owner of MadJam Creative, who designed the shirts which we have already seen on the streets of Brooklyn! The word is out!
