When this year’s Man in the Arena award recipient Albert C. Corhan, Sr. is officially recognized as the sixth recipient of this prestigious award at the Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc.’s Annual Golf Outing on September 10th, he will be joining an elite group of Kiwanians who have received this award for exhibiting the leadership and dedication described by President Theodore Roosevelt in his famed speech. Here’s a look back at last year’s recipient, Golf Committee Chairman William P. Bradley IV, who was congratulated by his beautiful wife Antonella and Corhan himself (who first proposed and established the award back in 2021) following the award presentation at Richmond County Country Club.

Congratulations to 2026 Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. Man in the Arena Award recipient Albert C. Corhan, Sr.! Al is a longtime Ben-Bay Kiwanis board member who is currently serving as President Elect. He plays an integral role in the planning and ex*****on of Kiwanis events throughout the year, including the Annual Golf Outing, at which he will graciously accept this prestigious award for his tireless efforts to improve our community and the lives of children and families in need. WE NEED YOUR HELP — PHOTOS WANTED: If you attended the Annual Bay Ridge Haunted Halloween Walk in Owl’s Head Park between the years 2007 and 2010, a photo you may have taken there or may have just might help solve a mystery! A world-famous team of documentarians are currently hard at work trying to pinpoint the exact date, time and location of a photo taken many years ago of a little girl and her late mother while attending the beloved community event. The event was produced by longtime Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. Board members Chip Cafiero (Founder and Executive Producer) and Albert C, Corhan, Sr., and was sponsored by . Any photos taken at this special event during these years — once properly analyzed — just might help the team get one step closer to making a wish come true. Congratulations and best of luck to NYPD Deputy Inspector John Dasaro, the new commanding officer of the in Crown Heights. The longtime Bay Ridge resident previously served as commander of his hometown , serving Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights. Shortly before his transfer, members of the Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. welcomed D.I. Dasaro to a meeting held at Ponte Vecchio Ristorante and presented him with a certificate of appreciation for his years of service to the and the community at large. Ben-Bay Kiwanis proudly supports the men and women of law enforcement, and offers congratulations and best wishes to new 68 Commander Capt. Christopher Vincenti as well.

And the award for lowest score goes to … the Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc.’s foursome! Ben-Bay Kiwanis President Thomas Aellis, 3rd Vice President Dr. George Shahin, Secretary William P. Bradley IV and Assistant Secretary Dr. Stephen L. Riso shot an incredible 12 under par to capture the trophy at the 17th Annual FIAO | IL Centro Community Center Golf Outing at Dyker Beach Golf Course! It was a big night for Kiwanis, as 2nd Vice President Paul DiSpirito was also recognized for his years of service to the community by FIAO Chairman Jack Spatola and Vice Chairman/Golf Chairman and fellow Kiwanis board member Frank Naccarato. Ben-Bay proudly served as the event’s Entertainment Sponsor as well. Congratulations, everyone!

KIWANIS IN THE COMMUNITY: Congratulations to Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation 2nd Vice President Paul DiSpirito of Lioni Italian Heroes, who was recognized at the 17th Annual FIAO | IL Centro Community Center Golf Outing last Monday evening at Dyker Beach Golf Course. DiSpirito was honored for his many years of generosity and service to the community and those in need. The event, organized by Ben-Bay Kiwanis board member Frank Naccarato, drew a large contingent of Kiwanians who came to show their support for Paul and enjoy a beautiful day on the links. As always, the Foundation was pleased to serve as a major sponsor of the event as well, and several Kiwanians were proud to assist with the event and contribute generously. Thank you, Chip! Members of the Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. recently attended and supported a very special, invitation-only event at Greenhouse Cafe in honor of longtime board member Chip Cafiero. Organized by the Merchants of Third Avenue and some of Chip’s closest friends, this private event drew more than 100 business, civic and political leaders as well as Chip’s dearest family and personal friends for an evening of delicious dinner and dancing. As part of the evening’s program, Chip received accolades from local elected officials, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and the Merchants Association itself for his nearly 50 years of service to the community. Thank you once again to Chip for his unwavering commitment to civic events in Bay Ridge and beyond!

Members of the Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. gathered at Cebu Bar & Bistro last Tuesday evening for a very special presentation honoring Past President Bartolo A. Allegretti for his successful term of service. Longtime Kiwanians Treasurer Salvatore Anelli and board member William Basso paid tribute to Bart for following in his father Victor’s footsteps and leading the Foundation expertly during his time as president. Foundation members in attendance enjoyed a special video package highlighting not only Bart’s involvement but some of the many children who have benefited from the generosity of throughout the years. Thank you, Bart, for your dedication and commitment to helping those in need!
