SUNSHINE REPORT: This week, the Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. is pleased to celebrate its first set of September birthdays! Longtime member the Rev. Msgr. David L. Cassato, who also serves as the Foundation’s chaplain, celebrates his special day today, September 2nd. Board member Manni Scarso, whose tireless work to end Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy has touched countless lives, celebrates his birthday tomorrow, September 3rd. Thank you, Monsignor and Manni, for all that you do for Kiwanis and the community. Happy birthday!

KIWANIS IN THE COMMUNITY: Congratulations to Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. board member and longtime community activist Chip Cafiero, who was recognized by the NYPD 62nd Precinct Community Council for his decades of service at the recent National Night Out event held outside the station house. The annual tradition featured games and activities for families, as well as music, food and refreshments. The event also provided citizens the opportunity to meet and greet officers of the 62nd Precinct, including C.O. Capt. Mohammed Islam, who presented Cafiero with a certificate alongside community council President Sonia Valentin. Way to go, Chip!

KIWANIS IN THE COMMUNITY: Members of the Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. were proud to attend the recent Olmcfeast at Our Lady of Mount Carmel- Annunciation in Williamsburg, where they joined the Rev. Msgr. Jamie Gigantiello, the Rev. Msgr. David L. Cassato and hundreds of onlookers for the Annual Dancing of the Giglio Night Lift ceremony — a Catholic tradition dating back to 1887! The Kiwanians enjoyed a gorgeous rooftop view of the Giglio in action, followed by a delicious celebratory dinner at La Nonna Ristorante & Bar!

KIWANIS IN THE COMMUNITY: Members of the Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. recently gathered at beautiful Giando on the water Ristorante for the 37th Annual Holy Smoke Cigar Dinner in support of Saint A's. The popular fundraiser was hosted by the Rev. Msgr. David L. Cassato — a member of Ben-Bay Kiwanis and the Foundation’s official chaplain — and featured an evening of delicious dinner and ci**rs from LittleCigarFactory overlooking the East River. As always, proceeds from the event benefited St. Athanasius and its programs.

SUNSHINE REPORT: The Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. is pleased to recognize and congratulate longtime members Donald Conceicao and the Rev. Msgr. David L. Cassato, who celebrated 23 years as Kiwanians this past Saturday, August 15th! Donnie is a retired member of the NYPD who continues to serve his community through Kiwanis, and Msgr. Cassato proudly serves as the Foundation’s chaplain, offering spiritual guidance and support to all members throughout the year. Happy Kiwanis Anniversary to both of these fine gentlemen and thank you for your many years of service to families and children in need!

Members of the Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. enjoyed some fun in the sun at the 12th Annual Beach Blast event at Breezy Point Surf Club organized and hosted each year by Mr. and Mrs. John DeLosa! Originally scheduled for July 28th, inclement weather forced members to postpone the event until this past Tuesday evening, but all agreed it was worth the wait! Attendees enjoyed a full day of delicious barbecue, home-cooked food and refreshments in the summer sun, plus games like bocce, volleyball and handball. The event served as both a social gathering and a chance to discuss upcoming events like the Annual Golf Outing, set for September 10th at beautiful Richmond County Country Club (Click the link in our bio for tickets and sponsorship opportunities). Enjoy the rest of your summer, everyone!
