We are a Brooklyn-based 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to strengthen and empower children, families, and communities through free after-school programs, summer camps, community classes, events, social services assistance & more! NIA Community Services Network has a rich history of improving the quality of life in communities for children, families, seniors, and businesses through our vital cost-free programs and services. We support the lives of thousands each year: children attending our after-school enrichment programs, seniors attending our special events, families receiving guidance through our counseling sessions, and those reaching out for our valuable support services.

🧡👻Last Saturday, we hosted our annual Spooktacular Halloween event in partnership with Senator Andrew Gounardes and Council Members Kayla Santosuosso, Susan Zhuang, and Alexa Avilés!

Families enjoyed a fun-filled day of trick-or-treating, games, pumpkin decorating, and creative crafts. It was wonderful to see our community come together to celebrate the Halloween spirit! The crowd also enjoyed performances by NIA dance groups from PS 247, PS 176, and IS 281.

A special thank you to Senator Steve Chan for stopping by and presenting us with a check for a capital grant that he secured for NIA and to the NYPD for helping keep our event safe.

🎃🗣️📣Halloween fun continues tomorrow at our Halloween Festival at Owls Head Park from 12pm-3pm, see you there!

💡🔦We are powered by after school! Every year students accross that nation celebrate Lights On After School, a celebration of the impact of after school. NIA participants celebrated with meaningful activities like sharing their thoughts on after-school, lightbulb-themed parties, crafts, and show-stopping performances.

Today is World Mental Health Day.

More than 1 in 7 U.S. youth ages 6–17 experience a mental health condition. — National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

At NIA, we believe every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and understood.

This October, we are launching Wellness Wednesdays — a monthly series dedicated to children’s mental health and family wellness. Follow along for tips, facts, and resources to support the well-being of children and families.

Together, we can create more opportunities for children and families to feel supported, connected, and well.

DYCD has been a longtime and valued supporter of the NIA. Their generous support has made many of our youth programs and community centers thrive. DYCD’s continued partnership also makes many of our annual events, including the Art Show, STEM Fair, and Dance Festival, possible. We are grateful for their ongoing commitment to supporting the NIA and the participants we serve.
