Arkansas’ outdoor and tourism economy is booming. Our state has evolved from that of a regional tourism destination to one that attracts visitors from all over the country and the world. We are no longer a hidden gem.

We're happy to announce a new partnership with Leave No Trace, which promotes sustainable tourism practices across the 13-county Pennsylvania Wilds region, which is explored by millions of visitors each year.

Leave No Trace research shows that people form lasting connections with nature when they understand how to protect it. The partnership with PA Wilds Center will build a program that ensures both visitors and residents are equipped with Leave No Trace environmental and sustainability information and skills to use when they enjoy the iconic natural landscapes in the PA Wilds.

Leave No Trace is based on 7 Principles. But what is a principle?

Leave No Trace is based on principles, not rules, as principles are guiding ethics that can be applied to many different situations. Principles are about people doing the best they can, with the knowledge they have.

Knowing the Leave No Trace Principles does not mean that every person will make the same choices, but they will make informed, considered choices.

We know that this photo is reminiscent of warmer weather, but we've all been here, haven't we?

Many animals near or at popular campgrounds have been conditioned to human food! This means they're not afraid to get reaaaally close to us and our camp setup. Let's do what we can do protect wildlife by storing our food properly, even if it's just for a short time!
