We hope this isn’t a fight, rather an informed conversation with the community. Have you responded to the questionnaire yet?

Cyclists say the connection to Doudy Draw would provide a safer alternative to busy roads. Opponents warn of habitat damage and conflicts.

The City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks is considering one safe, natural-surface bike connection between Shanahan Ridge and Doudy Draw, and now is the time to weigh in.

The City’s current concept would reroute portions of existing trails to create a continuous multi-use connection from Greenbriar through South Boulder Creek West toward South Mesa and Doudy Draw.

OSMP’s preliminary evaluation sees some big benefits, including substantial positive impacts for safety, shifting trips away from cars and equity. It also identifies concerns about habitat, wildlife and invasive species.

We care about those concerns too. We believe they deserve thoughtful study, and that good trail design, rerouting, restoration and management can help protect the resources that make South Boulder special while providing a much-needed safe connection.

Would this connection let you ride from home instead of driving to a trailhead? Give your kids a safer way to reach Doudy Draw? Make it easier for you to access Open Space by bike?

Tell the City. And don’t just say you support it. Tell them why.

The questionnaire is open through August 30.

Alright, finally got the last video from Doudy Draw up! It's been hot (have I mentioned that?!), but I finally wrapped up last night around 7pm. I said morning in the vid, but it was actually lunch time as I was at Heil during the morning. You can fast forward through the middle if you don't want to hear me ramble. I was touching up little features here and there, with a couple cool features towards the top.

Big shout out to Redstone Cyclery for hooking us up with new tires for the "work bike". What a huge difference! Support those that support the movement! Thanks, Dave!!!

Freehub Mountain Bike Film festival TONIGHT at the Dairy Center in Boulder. Doors open at 6pm for Happy Hour and films start at 7pm. This is a fund raiser for all we do at BMA, like squash efforts to ban bikes, advocate for more trail access (south TSA), and build/maintain/bike-optimize trails in our area!

Cheers!

Another rained out Friday on Doudy Draw, so no video but here's a few before and after pics from this week. I'll get some footie next week with more detail of what I did. Both sections turned out pretty good, though there was a lot of earth moving. We're camping up at PV this weekend, so of your up there look us up. We'll be at Camp Dick. Cheers! R u t t e R

We believe conservation and recreation can not only coexist, but that both are essential to the future of our public lands. When people have meaningful opportunities to experience these places, they build connections to them, care about what happens to them, and become advocates for protecting them.

How do you think we can do a better job of supporting both conservation and thoughtful recreation access?

Hey-o! I've enlisted my fat bike as my main work bike for hauling gear in with our BOB trailer or just riding in to Scoop Dogg. Thanks to fellow BMA member and LONG time volunteer, Robert Gulley, I have a new set of wheels that makes riding this giant a lot more nimble in techy terrain. However, the Panaracer FatBnimble tires that came with these wheels are getting destroyed as they are virtually XC racing tires (sorry, Robert!).

All this to say, my Christmas in August wish is to get a set of Surly Knard 29 x 3.0 tires that are more burly and made for this type of use. They ain't cheap at roughly $75-80/tire depending on the site. I was hoping to order locally, so I'm kindly asking for a donation of $200 to cover tax, etc. We'd need 20 people to throw down $10. Is that too much to ask?

Venmo> and add note "Rutter Knard"

Cheers in advance!!
