Thank you UMass Boston Alumni for sharing the great news about Brian Joel Chavez winning Business of the Year for his consistently outstanding work Antonio's Pizzeria. We are so lucky to have him in Fields Corner.

This , we’re celebrating Brian Chavez ’14, owner of Antonio's Pizzeria in Dorchester, which was recently named Business of the Year by Fields Corner Main Street.

Brian took over the celebrated Fields Corner pizza shop in 2015, just days after graduating from UMass Boston. The son of a small business owner in Fields Corner, he stepped into entrepreneurship with little experience but a strong commitment to his customers and community.

We are SO grateful for Economics Internship Program under Marlene Kim for sending us Chris & Sam this semester.

Chris Garcia, a native of Chelsea came back fresh from study abroad in China and was shocked by impact of ICE on our neighborhood. He got right to work interviewing business owners and studying the larger impact economic impact of ICE this year in comparison to the past.

Samantha Doucette, is a career bartender who was interested how mission is applied in city economics. Her work this semester was so inspiring we and her professor felt it could lead her to a PhD if she wanted.

Congratulations Chris & Sam! Bravo! We can’t wait to see what you do next

If you follow Dorchester instagram, or walk or drive the streets of Dot you’ve probably seen in his branded electric cargo bike.

The cargo bike has been a necessary addition for making it to school pickup after he’s been traveling the city looking for hidden gems and patterns in architecture we might not otherwise see.

We’re the lucky ones because Matthew is a friend of the organization, and has agreed to share his personal perspective about the special nature of Fields Corner at our Annual Meeting this year.
