Louis D. Brown Peace Institute The Louis D. Brown Peace Institute is a center of Healing, Teaching and Learning for people impacted by murder, trauma, grief and loss.

Brown Peace Institute assists and empowers families impacted by violence by providing support to survivors of homicide victims. Applying their peace curriculum in area schools, the Peace Institute works to instill the value of peace in young people. Through education, collaboration, and policy advocacy, the Peace Institute works to raise awareness of the cause and consequences of violence on the individual, the family, and the community. A reflection from our Training Coordinator, Sonia, on our most recent training!

Bringing our Best Practices for Serving Survivors of Homicide Victims to Athol's Domestic Violence Task Force highlighted an important and often not talked about cross section within the communities that we serve.

Participants noted that the ripple effects of homicide, domestic violence, and homicide resulting from domestic violence affects the entire community, and when the person who dies and the person who is convicted of murder come from the same family, it is that much more crucial to uplift our mission of serving both sides equitably and effectively.
