Casa Myrna Until every relationship is safe and healthy

Founded in 1977, Casa Myrna is Boston’s largest provider of domestic violence awareness efforts and of shelter and supportive services to survivors. Our comprehensive range of services, available in both Spanish and English, provide survivors with tools to recover from the trauma of abuse and begin to build sustainable self-sufficiency. Each year, we serve over 2,000 survivors through three residential programs, housing assistance and advocacy, financial literacy education and job readiness skill building, individual and group counseling, legal advocacy and representation, children’s services, and community-based advocacy. Casa Myrna operates SafeLink, Massachusetts’ statewide 24/7 toll-free domestic violence hotline, which answers over 27,000 calls annually. We also provide domestic and dating violence awareness and prevention services by educating teens and adults across the state through workshops, seminars, trainings, social media, engagement with the media and annual ad campaigns on mass transit systems. We support ALL survivors regardless of race, ethnicity, language, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, disability, age, or sexual orientation.

The strength of Casa Myrna's prevention work comes from our commitment to asking our community what they need, listening to what they say, and responding by creating programs and support that they want.

Our youth programming is collaborative and responsive to what young people tell us they need. A recent survey of over 200 teenage boys in our neighborhoods, the majority of respondents overwhelmingly told us they want "mentors who understand us" and "safe spaces to talk."

Our Peer Leader program does exactly that: it empowers young adults to create supportive conversations that challenge harmful messages about masculinity. Help us continue to create these spaces this by donating to our peer leader fundraiser; $5,000 will fund 2 positions through this school year. This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’re asking our community to help us invest in the young people leading prevention work 💜

At Casa Myrna, young people bring their lived experiences into conversations about healthy relationships. They support their peers, create prevention content, and grow into leaders in their communities.

We value that perspective, and this October, we’re raising $5,000 to employ two Peer Leaders through the school year. These paid positions give young people an opportunity to continue developing their leadership skills while actively contributing to our violence prevention work.

With youth employment funding becoming increasingly limited, your investment is critical to keeping opportunities like these available.

Throughout October, we’ll be sharing more about what prevention looks like at Casa Myrna. Help us create the world we want to see in the next generation: https://give.casamyrna.org/campaign/848028/donate

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. More than 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men in the U.S. will experience contact s*xual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

More than awareness, survivors deserve our support. This October, help us spread both awareness and action by supporting Casa Myrna's programs including SafeLink, housing, counseling, economic stability and legal advocacy.

For the second year in a row, shelter families were able to go on a summer outing thanks to the generous donations of our community!

Moms and their children went to Kidztopia Boston, where Child Specialist Ieshia Marshall said the children got to bond with one another, have fun and spend quality time with their families outside of the shelter environment.

"The smiles, laughter and excitement from the children really showed how meaningful the experience was," Ieshia said. "We are so grateful to everyone who helped make it possible."

The countdown is on until we can plan another great trip and make more positive memories next summer!

School is back in session, and from the littlest learners to high school seniors, Casa Myrna supported nearly 200 students this season! It wouldn't have been possible without our partners at organizations like the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, Mintz, Guardian Life, Aura Biosciences and many others.

Whether you're an individual who donated one backpack, or a company who donated dozens, we appreciate your support!

It is back to school and this week our staff are giving out nearly 200 backpacks to school-aged children connected to Casa Myrna through our shelters, economic stability, community advocacy, legal advocacy programs and more.

Our annual Backpack Drive wouldn't be what it is without partners like Guardian Life who put together dozens of backpacks filled with supplies after a recent lunch and learn! Thank you for setting these students up for success!
