What are your favorite memories from 2024 at the Boston Liberation Center? ⭐️ Here’s just a few of ours.

This year we organized with our neighbors, coworkers, and classmates to fight for union and student power, against unaffordable housing in Roxbury, for a Free Palestine, and for an end to U.S. Imperialism everywhere!

We are so grateful for everyone who joined us this year for organizing trainings, open mics, art builds, community forums, and so much more.

We can’t wait to see you in 2025.

The BLC is a socialist community center for education, organzing and culture in Roxbury. Join our sustainers program or make a one-time donation to support our work to continue the fight back against Trump and his extreme-right agenda.

Add LIBERATION to your Holiday Wishlist! ✅

The Boston Liberation Center is a socialist community center for education, culture, and organizing—right in the heart of Roxbury. We host educational and cultural events for the community, and organize protests on critical issues like gentrification, police brutality, reproductive rights, and endless wars.

We don’t receive funding from billionaires or the government. We’re 100% funded by donations from our supporters and volunteers, and we’re asking for your help this holiday season! Our holiday wishlist includes:

🪑 FURNITURE — some of our desks, tables, and chairs are falling apart
🎤 TECH — microphones for our open mics, community forums and other events, and equipment for producing high quality media
🥁 DRUMS — to bring the energy we need at protests against Trump’s right-wing, billionaire agenda!

⭐️ Monthly recurring donations help us budget and plan ahead. Even $1, $5 or $10 a month matters! Make a donation today, or ask your loved ones to donate on your behalf this holiday season.

🔗 Donate through PayPal, Venmo, or at bit.ly/sustainthemovement

Thank you to everyone who has supported our work this past year! 🙏 Let’s get ready to continue the fight back in 2025!

Join us for our Black August Liberation Open Mic, featuring Unveiling E.P.I. Poets!

Unveiling E.P.I. Poets is poetry group formed by Isaiah Monteiro, Kyle Bryant, Charles Reddicks, Alexander Gallett, Amos Don, and Dylan Etheridge — six poets and Emerson Prison Initiative (E.P.I.) students currently incarcerated at MCI Norfolk. Like many of the imprisoned revolutionaries we commemorate during Black August, these poets use their art to tell their stories, reflect the oppressive reality of U.S. prisons, and uplift the struggle for liberation here and around the world.

Though incarceration prevents them from joining us in person, Unveiling E.P.I. Poets will bring their voices to the BLC in a multimodal form.

Black August is honored every year to commemorate the fallen freedom fighters of the Black Liberation Movement, to call for the release of political prisoners in the United States, to condemn the oppressive conditions of U.S. prisons, and to emphasize the continued importance of the Black Liberation struggle. Observers of Black August commit to higher levels of discipline throughout the month. This can include fasting from food and drink, frequent physical exercise and political study, and engagement in political struggle. In short, the principles of Black August are: “study, fast, train, fight!”

✨ SAVE THE DATE! ✨ The Boston Liberation Center is turning 3!

On Saturday, August 24, join us in marking the third anniversary of the BLC with a free community block party!

From community forums to open mics to youth nights, from fighting gentrification in Roxbury to occupation in Palestine, this has been a historic year of struggle. We're so excited to reflect on the lessons and celebrate the wins of our collective action with food, cultural performances, education, art and more!

🗣️ UNAFFORDABLE IS UNACCEPTABLE 🗣️

Last week, Roxbury residents trekked out to Winthrop to confront Joel Rubiera, the Edge Real Estate developer leading the market rate project on Blue Hill Ave.

In 10 months, the Roxbury community has expressed our disapproval through 500+ petition signatures, 60+ public comments, & multiple meetings.

But Joel is moving forward with this unaffordable, unwanted development out of greed!

We won’t stop fighting until the people of Roxbury can afford to stay in the neighborhoods they grew up in!

Join us for our next Liberation Open Mic, featuring Briana Crockett!

Briana Crockett is a Boston native that has too many jackets and not enough space. She’s a poet and neighborhood activist involved with the Greater Boston poetry scene. Participating in Button Poetry’s Publishers Slam in 2021 and 2023, featuring on GBH Boston’s Outspoken Saturdays, a reader at literature conferences, and an avid member of the Cantab poetry community in Cambridge, and other Boston art/activist spaces. She published a chapbook The Growing Place (2020) and an ebook When the World Stopped//We Were Still Beautiful. Her next book is in the works. She can be found talking with her hands (nails long) and on a tangent. You can find her observing clouds and flowers in her community and hoarding hot sauce.
