It was truly an honor and great recognition for Jack to have been awarded last week by the Boston Celtics as their ‘Heroes Among Us’ recipient during the Night, honoring the legacy of Heather Walker, the Celtics’ beloved VP of Public Relations, who passed away from glioblastoma in April 2023. Jack has turned his experience into actions by launching several fundraising events, and JD55 was instrumental in contributing to the $1M directed to (read the full story in our Linktree), supporting pediatric brain cancer research. PBTF has made an infusion of more than $1 million and the US Department of Defense has given a grant to help researchers at Cancer Institute, led by Drs. Pratiti (Mimi) Bandopadhayay and Rameen Beroukhim, launch a new study into a novel therapeutic target and expand their research into overcoming treatment resistance and rebound growth. Thanks to the PBTF community partners like us (JD55) and , the Hope for Kids fund, the PLGA Fund at PBTF and other PBTF Donors, whose support makes research funding like this possible. ✅ Facilitated the exploration of targeted therapies essential for combating cancer cells or their activators while preserving the well-being of healthy cells.
✅ Offered optimism for safer and more efficient alternatives for children, either as a substitute for chemotherapy and its associated side effects or as an additional treatment option when chemotherapy alone is no longer effective.
