The Professional Firefighters of Idaho whole heartedly stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Montana, especially those in Billings.

“After last weekend’s tragic events in Billings, Montana, Where firefighters were met with gunfire coming from inside a Billings West end home.
We’ve since learned that both children and adults were among the 8 fatalities.

We’ve also learned, with profound sorrow, that these unimaginable losses included the entire family of a fellow Montana firefighter for Billings International Airport.

At the request of his fellow firefighters, we humbly share this GoFundMe page to help offset the overwhelming financial costs that begin immediately and may continue for months and years to come.

For years this families Husband and Dad has responded to help others with a smile and no questions. This is our chance to stand up and return the love and respect.

Happy Monday Boise! We’re ready to respond to another week of summer, recreate safely as temperatures stay high.

On top of standing guard and fighting wild land urban interface fires threatening our city. Your firefighter’s at the same moment are tasked with responding to structure fires, swift water rescues, technical rescue response, hazardous material response, and life threatening EMS emergencies.

We love this job, thank you for supporting us!

With staffing stretched thin we would like to recognize the spouses and family members who hold down the home front during the summer months. Without your support we wouldn’t be able to do the job we do.

Today we pause and remember the LODD of SFF Charles “Charlie” Ruffing. 7 years ago today our brother Charlie tragically lost his battle with mental health.

Charlie’s selfless dedication and commitment to serving the community on and off duty will never be forgotten. During his time Charlie was awarded Boise Fire Department Firefighter of the Year and was integral in running L149’s Burnout Fund which still continues to help families to this day.

Charlie’s legacy has had a forever lasting positive impact on our brother and sisterhood of Boise Firefighters. More than ever we’ve learned the importance of supporting each other, especially during the tough times, and looking out for the unseen challenges that each of us may be facing.

Our thoughts and prayers today are with the Ruffing family.

We miss you Brother, we’ll see you again smiling on the fire floor.
