River Discovery is celebrating 20 years!

River Discovery was founded in October 2006 by Joe and Fran Tonsmeire, seasoned whitewater rafting outfitters and ranchers from Lemhi, Idaho. Inspired by their deep connection to the land and river—and shaped by personal experiences with cancer—they envisioned outdoor adventures that promote healing, confidence, and connection for cancer survivors. For 20 years, these programs have been providing adventure programs and fulfilling Fran and Joe Tonsmeire's dreams for River Discovery.

Join us for the 16th annual OktoberBreast auction and fundraiser for cancer research and survivor recovery. OktoberBreast brings our community together to raise money for Casting for Recovery Southwestern Idaho, Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research, and River Discovery.

We couldn’t be more excited for them and the memories they are going to make with each other, our amazing River Discovery volunteers, and the fabulous guides at Wilderness River Outfitters. Thank you to those that came out for our first River Discovery Paddle Out Cancer (POC) of the season on Saturday! It was a beautiful day on the water. A huge thank you to our POC guide Christine Cegelski, River Discovery Board Member & Trip Alumni. Also a thank you to Idaho River Sports for their partnership and supplying the best gear for POC.
