🔥 Home Fire Prevention Week Tip

If an oven fire starts, keep the oven door closed to help prevent the fire from spreading and call 911. Opening the door can allow the fire to grow and create an even more dangerous situation.

A remarkable piece of local history. ❤️

During the 1918 influenza pandemic, Red Cross nurses answered the call, working alongside local medical professionals and volunteers as illness swept through Coeur d’Alene. Their courage, compassion and commitment to caring for others reflect a spirit of service that continues today.

The community is invited to welcome home veterans participating in the inaugural Honor Flight Boise when they return to Boise Airport. The flight gives veterans the opportunity to visit memorials in Washington, D.C., built in recognition of their service and sacrifice.

Chris Bollar’s spirit filled the room at his memorial blood drive in McCall this week. ❤️

Before joining the Red Cross as a phlebotomist, Chris spent more than a decade in emergency services. After knee injuries changed his path, he found another way to do what he loved: help people.

"He enjoyed knowing his work helped save lives," said Chris's mom, Jo Ellen. "He was a loving, caring person and loved his Red Cross family."

Chris passed away earlier this year, but his legacy of kindness, generosity and empathy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Across both days, the room was filled with photos, life-size cutouts, hugs and shared memories.

"This drive means so much to me because it honors my dad in a place that was special to him," said Chris's daughter, Bria. "Knowing his memory is helping bring people together to help others means everything to me."

The team collected 120 units of blood over two days. Those close to him say each donation represents an opportunity to help someone in need, just as Chris would have wanted.

"Keeping a piece of him alive is comforting in a way that's hard to describe," Chris's wife, Ashlie Bollar, said. "Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart."

Thank you to Chris’s family, the McCall community and our biomedical team for honoring him with such care. Chris’s compassion and big energy brought people together once again.
