Earlier this month, the Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University held its largest commencement ceremony in history with 79 graduates. Last week, Florida Atlantic University conferred a record-number 4,347 degrees over the course of eight commencement ceremonies. The spring graduates joined more than 223,000 alumni who have graduated from FAU since the university opened its doors in 1964.

Highlights of the 2026 spring commencement include:

•96 degree recipients over the age of 50, and 16 over the age of 60.

•The oldest graduate is 69 and the youngest is 17.

•Of the 4,347 graduates, 521 were first-generation students; 219 graduated with a 4.0 GPA; and 88 countries were represented.

•12 FAU High School students were awarded a bachelor’s degree before receiving their high school diploma.

A.D. Henderson & FAU High School are among just six schools nationwide to be selected as “School of the Year” as part of the 2026 Discovery Education Awards.

The FAU Lab Schools were honored for its vertically aligned, inquiry-based STEM instruction, as well as its nationally recognized research and applied learning model. As a public K-12 laboratory school district, the schools integrate rigorous academics with authentic research experiences, hands-on laboratory learning and interdisciplinary instruction beginning in the earliest grades.

Florida Atlantic University named Blake Davis as its new Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Chief Executive Officer of the Florida Atlantic University Foundation.

Currently serving as the Vice President for Development, Principal and Major Gifts at Southern Methodist University, Davis brings more than 20 years of diverse experience in higher education development, serving both leading public and private universities.

He has played a pivotal leadership role in multiple billion-dollar comprehensive campaigns, consistently driving results through a combination of strategic vision, relationship-building, and disciplined ex*****on. He will begin at Florida Atlantic on June 1.
