"Collage Night: A Virtual Showcase"
September 4th, 2020

Video Auditions DUE:
Sunday, August 8th, 11:59pm

The Black Undergraduate Theatre Collective at FAU is looking for singers and dancers for its virtual musical theatre showcase, “Collage Night.”

The showcase will blend contemporary and R&B Hits with diverse musical theatre standards; Singers will record themselves singing assigned parts and they will be edited together for the final product.

Individual Rehearsals will take place based on actor availability. Small group rehearsals will take place on Saturdays and ensemble numbers will rehearse on Sundays. Actors must have reliable internet connection, a device to film with and a device to record audio with.

FOR THE VIDEO AUDITION: Please prepare a one-minute cut of a song of your choice from the following genres: Soul, R&B. Motown, Jazz, or Broadway.

On February 21st, the 55th anniversary of the assassination of Malcolm X, members of the Black Undergraduate Theatre Collective performed a staged reading of his speech, “The Ballot or the Bullet.”

Welcome to the Black Undergraduate Theatre Collective! We are a collection of artists assembled in January 2020 in response to the lack of black perspectives represented in our curriculum. The purpose of the Black Undergraduate Theatre Collective (BUTC or The Collective for short) is to provide training, opportunities, and education to communities that have been historically underserved and underrepresented by FAU in the past. Through engagement with work that is culturally enhancing, members and audiences alike will gain a broader cultural awareness and appreciation for the universality of Black culture. The Collective's door is always open to anyone with a willingness to learn about advocacy and an open heart to understanding true allyship with the black community.
